Am sure there will be a few twists and turns still though. Estes being the mole seems a bit too obvious (and the VP did ask him to fire someone).

How do we know Saul didn't send Estes round after seeing how close Carrie was getting to solving the case? Or more likely (but more boringly) Glavez's name keeps being mentioned for no apparent reason, to perhaps remind us he is still in the show and has a 'part' to play.

Yes - he had the opportunity as Saul was going to call him to look into what might have happened during Abu Nazir's 'fallow' period. Also, he was supposed to be keeping Carrie under surveillance from very early on, so if he has been doing as asked, then he would know about the affair and potentially Carrie's unauthorised spying on Brody.

If it is a phone tap Estes is acting on surely he'd let Brody and Carrie meet up and see what comes from their meeting? I can only think of two reasons why not - first, he's just following VP's orders, careerist that Estes is, and Carrie's the obvious sackable candidate.

second - he's the mole and protecting his interests before someone listens to what Carrie's on about.

Either way I'm convinced he's the cause of the leaks of information, which makes him the mole. Whether Estes knows he's the mole or knows about the plots being hatched, I'm not sure.

I'm confused what the VP's motivation is in all this now. Is this all an elaborate plot to assasinate the President and put him in charge on a ramped up anti-terrorism platform? Or just a lot of coincidences/a well played game has led us this far with the VP putting suicide bomber Brody up for election.

Brilliant series.

Saul to the rescue and foil the plot in the final ep.....?

It was an example of how her illness affects her. She wasn't behaving rationally.

So Brody is going to become a suicide bomber because of what happened with Isa? Because he became part of that family for a couple of years and saw how the American government had killed so many innocent people including Isa, and he is now going to blow himself and others up, because this is the only thing he now believes in, as conditioned by Abu Nazir. That's what the show is trying to say, right?

He's basically sacrificing himself for someone else's son. I just keep wondering about his family, especially his daughter. He must love them, or has this all been an act; does he feel that disconnected to them, that he readily agreed to do this? Is it because he's been turned or is it because he's been so disaffected and disillusioned by the war and his eight years worth of experience as a part of it, that this is the only reaction that he has to have to rationalise what's happened to him.

As you can see, I'm just really confused as to why Brody has decided to do this!

Galvez might. He was supposed to keep an eye on Carrie anyway.
Virgil's a surveillance expert... he could easily find a way and he was also at Carrie's house recently....

Wonder if the Gettysburg stuff about how the teacher from Maine saved the Union by behaving in an unusal manner in battle will become relevant next week?

So Brody's been brainwashed. Something dramatic will have to happen to change his mind.

I've a feeling his daughter will put a spanner in the works, hope so. Brody's complicity in this is still staggering to me if true. Despite all I've seen I still can't believe he's willing to go through with it. And who or what is the real target?

So is he a willing suicide bomber or a double agent after all?

Roll on next week's finale....

All possible. Damn them for keeping us guessing. :D

I love the optimism that that will answer your 'questions' :D

I'm not saying it won't..I have absolutely no idea but if it was all resolved why is there a second series???? ;)

There is bound to be a fair few unanswered questions, we may not even find out who the mole is!

Oh I know :D but I'm hopeful we won't be left totally stranded at the end....to be continued.

There has to be some satisfaction gleemed from watching next week's finale, or I'll be really miffed. :(

What are you talking about? What pregnancy? There wasn't mention of anything like that in tonight's episode.

Just a note for anyone reading this. The season finale is next Sunday - so NO SPOILERS!!! At all!

Yes, she's very keen on finding out what's in that parcel.:o

I was surprised how small and light that parcel looked when Brody was carrying it. I'd have imagined it to be much heavier with all those belts, buckles and ball bearings on it.
Brody goes into a strange trance. Isn't that what happens to sleepers....something triggers them off?

Loved Saul in tonight's episode.:) I think he really cares for Carrie....

Just watched extended edition of Have I Got News For You with Damian Lewis hosting. I thought it was a great show, very funny and Damian Lewis was a superb host. He totally gets it and loved all the Homeland references and it was funny seeing Susan Calman drool all over him!

Ian's gag - member of Al-Qaeda having dinner with the President of the USA and the Prime Minister! :D

With Damian being in the UK this week to host the show does anyone think Damian will be around next week too on tv to promote the season finale? I think there's a good chance of him popping up on some show or other. Hope he does.

I've seen the entire season and a lot of things are explained in the last episode so don't fret ;)

For those that haven't seen the ending all I can say is that the last episode is indeed very good :)

Cool :). If needed, I'll postpone my fretting for next week then:D

I'm really looking forward to the finale next week, although I know I'll be suffering from withdrawal symptoms until the start of season two as Homeland has become so entrenched in my Sunday nights:(.

violetcrawley 30-04-2012 00:23

The final is awesome.
I did mention that they start filming in May.

Maybe she finds the vest and cuts the wires.

I agree about Saul, he was very protective of Carrie.

Oh no! I want to know about him NOW.... or next week at least!
Can't wait hundreds of eps to find out which side he's on....:(:
(Denley and I will run out of purple smileys soon I feel)

I really hope Saul is not the mole, he's the most likeable character and has grounded this series for me. I really don't think it'd be as good if he couldn't continue. And yes last night he was lovely!
