Ah okay thanks. You've probably reminded me one of the reasons why I don't normally follow US dramas lol

I'm not sure the series suits a long multi season run to be honest. Season 2 I can buy that.. but i'm not sure how they can stretch it out any further than that really without it becoming silly. They'd have to introduce new threats and once it reaches that point, it's just another 24. Viewers are going to be highly sceptical about another series that ends in a 'Oh god just reveal it already' ending. So 2 seasons fits for me. 3 is pushing it.

(Speaking of 24.. I did sometimes wish the Brody character had been Jack Bauer. Homeland would have made for a kick ass 24 season. As brilliant as Damian Lewis is.. I kept wondering how Kiefer would have played the part.)

As for Sol, curious. There were scenes that fit with him being a mole.. he had access to the first terrorist guy, he seemed to fail the lie detector test and then pass it (Brody proved you can fool the test, so could Sol have fooled it too?) and certain scenes where he seemed to throw blocks in the way of Carries progress.

But then at other times he seemed to go above and beyond to help her. Why construct the time line? Why threaten the Vice President to reveal the airstrike info? Why try to talk her out of the shock therapy? Why offer to move to be with his wife, unless that was his 'out'? Maybe it will all come spilling out that Abu Nazir used to be a CIA asset, Sol was his handler and Carrie was sent into the lions den without being told?

Oh and when did Brody's wife find out he slept with Carrie?! All of a sudden she is making references to him f**king her? When did she find out? Maybe I missed half an episode somewhere.

All in all it was a good series.. if not just a little bit annoying at the end.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but just saw an advert on Channel 4 saying that series 2 starts in October. Glad there won't be so long to wait between it being shown in the US and here!

daisyduck1976 01-09-2012 17:03

Great news. I'm looking forward to it :)

MrSuper 01-09-2012 23:19

Saw the trailer myself. I imagine they'll be showing this a few weeks after it starts in the US. Can't wait!

I saw that tonight and I am really excited to here that it's being run at virtually US pace, good for C4 to make the leap in showing US paced shows unlike with The Killing.

After seeing the original on sky arts over the summer, I don't think I could watch any more of H/land...It's a very poor 'remake' imo.
:(

It's not really a remake, as pointed out by the creator, the differences between the two countries mean that the shows whilst clearly originating from the same idea weren't that similar at all.

I bet part of that esteem is because it was subtitled, and if it wasn't subtitled, you'd probably think it equal to Homeland.

and why is Sky Arts in bold? Is that to remind us of yet another attempt from Sky to piggyback of another channels' success?

You can't really compare the shows, they're 2 different beasts entirely for different markets.

For me the story was the same, only Hatufim, was of a higher quality...imo.

Homeland cherry picked a lot from the original....but mucked it up, big time.

A lot of the time, stuff was cut for realism. For example, the soldiers in POW, return home to less fanfare because their release was negotiated, whereas in Homeland, there was mass fanfare because (officially) they don't negotiate with terrorists...

Just finished this and was pretty much hooked from start to finish - mostly because it was only 12 episodes long and not the usual ridiculous US series length! Looking forward to the next series.

Cloudbuster 06-09-2012 16:25

It's quite simply magnificent drama.

One of the best Tv shows of the last 20 years

daniel9624 06-09-2012 16:34

4th October is that right?

Yes, and US Pace only starts on 30 Sep, so well done Ch 4 for broadcasting it so soon afterwards.

Here are two official Showtime trailer for S2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh_TPjZJCRc and

Mind you, I still may watch it at US Pace so I can see it advert fee.

Wow, that's amazing. Only 4 days after the US broadcast we get it here. However it won't be on Sundays anymore because 4th October is a Thursday. I just HOPE Ch4 do not f*ck around with the schedules and show it every Thursday night in a regular timeslot, preferably 9pm which is what it had previously. Any later and it could be doomed.

daniel9624 07-09-2012 10:32

Think I'll probably Sky+ this to negate the Ad's issue, plus if C4 do mess around with it I won't miss it!

theonlyweeman 07-09-2012 10:46

Thursday is a shit day, that's when all the good comedies are on, DAMN YOU CHANNEL 4! I'd much prefer Sundays again please...

The other good thing is that Homeland doesn't have a mid-season break in the US so all 12 episodes run back to back. If Channel 4 do stick to their schedule it will mean that the finale will be shown in the UK the Thursday before Christmas.

Fio Montoya 08-09-2012 12:28

I just finished watching this and am now busy watching it through again. SO GOOD!!!! Cannot wait for season 2 to begin, I am officially hooked :D

vladivarvixen 08-09-2012 14:10

Its the SUNDAY, i.e. the 7th on Channel 4. Do you think they might repeat S1 finale beforehand, or will there just be a very long "Last season on Homeland" intro?

spillow 08-09-2012 16:21

I'm very excited for the new season - I had no idea Channel 4 were going to air it this soon! :)

Regarding the date, it starts on the 7th, right? This is the only article I can find with any date: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...=feeds-newsxml

According to DS's Tube Talk there will be a repeat on More4 beforehand, dates to be announced soon.
