Groundhog Day is 20 years old today
I was just reading online that Groundhog Day is 20 years old today.I remember going to see this back in 1993 at the cinema, makes me feel really old :D
The following link has some facts about the film that you may or may not already know http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-...36.html?page=1 I'll get round to buying this on blu-ray at some point. |
Really? I saw it when it came out and therefore
have spent 20 years of my life trying to forget what a miserably made, pointless piece of crap that it was! |

That make me feel very old. Just a fantastic film from start to finish - i must have easily gone into double figures for the amount of times i've seen it and i still like it.
|
Juamnji, Home Alone 2, Jurrasic Park etc will be about the same age
|
Okay campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today.....;)
|
Great film. The whole sequence with Phil trying to keep the old man alive is so touching.
|
The repeated scene of the clock radio smashing is hilarious :D
Awww nuts... :p |
Ned Ryerson!!!!!!!!!! Bing!
:D |
Im surprised they havent made a sequel - just a repeat of the first movie :)

"I'm a god"
"You're God?" "I'm a god, I'm not the God." :D One of the best films, and possibly the best rom-com, of the 90's, and a rare occassion when Andie McDowell isn't completely annoying (as opposed to that other big 90's rom-com, where she so is). |
Even Andie McDowell is great in this :)
"Do you ever have deja vu, Mrs. Lancaster?" "I don't think so but I could check with the kitchen" :D |
"Believe it or not, I studied 19th century French poetry."
"Hah! What a waste of time!" |
:D
Now I find some of that stuff unrealistic TBH :p I know its a rom-com (kind of) but you wouldnt expect the other person to like EVERYTHING you like in a relationship :) |
I can't believe it's been 20 years already!

Haha :D:D:D
Haha Haha :p |
I'm surprised. Usually when I look up how old films that I like are they are closer to 30 years.
One of the reasons that I like this film is because Groundhog day is my birthday. :) |

she's passable in this, but i still find her character rather unlikeable, tbh......:o |
One of the very few Rom Coms I can actually watch without wanting to vomit blood.

Brilliant film. I've rated 900 odd on IMDB and only 25 or 26 at 9/10 or above. Thats one of them.
|
I'd like them to remake this film with Roy Wood of Wizzard in Bill Murray's role.
His clock radio would wake him up with "I wish it could be Christmas every day"... every day. The true poetic justice coming when it turns out it *is* Christmas day... every ******* day! :) I would retitle it.... "Be Careful What You Wish For". :D |
Phenomenal film. Murray is just off the charts superb.
The scene where he's helping Pops & constantly trying to save him ruins me every single time.... |
I remember reading somewhere that the original script had him stuck in the same day for 10,000 years. It was clever of Harold Ramis to make it far fewer years so it works better as a story, but that original idea still gives me the shivers.
I watched it again with some American friends at Thanksgiving, and their children hadn't seen it. They were at college too, and I realised it had been made before they were born. That did make me feel old. |
