Kay Burley - please enlighten me !!

I'm presuming she is Sky's favourite presenter as it seems that everytime I switch on Sky News it seems that she's on duty , usually the studio but if there's a it story she's out on location.

Just don't get it .

She has a way of delivering the news which grates on me personally and doesn't seem that outstanding to me , she hardly smiles and when she does, its a fake one .

She's far from attractive ( take a close look and imagine her without makeup first thing in the morning - yikes !) .

Any theories out there as to why she's the golden girl of Sky and better keep them clean :)

I'm sure there's a joke somewhere about her and any member of the Murdoch clan and sexual favours or whatnot, but I suppose that's too obvious? ;)

stirlingguy1 06-03-2013 14:57

I suspect viewers do actually like watching her despite her obvious flaws.
Fancy a bit of Kay Burley's best bits:

I don't know anything about Kay Burley but she seems to be universally disliked (at least by people on DS). Why is that ?

And who thinks that she is "it"

wallace howitt 06-03-2013 16:45

On 9/11 she said that the entire eastern seaboard of the United States has been decimated by a terrorist attack. She is an idiot.

I have heard that's a bit of a myth and have seen no evidence backing this one up. Would be good to see a video proving it.

No one appears to be a fan of Kay Burley.

Neville_Breaksp 06-03-2013 21:35

tothegrand 06-03-2013 22:29

I like Kay Burley.

smurfs5 06-03-2013 22:39

I don't particularly like Burley and Sky have much better presenters such as Lorna Dunkley, Anna Jones and Mark Longhurst all of whom should be moved to more high profile slots in my opinion.

She isn't always on it's always Lorna Dunkley on afternoons when I see it and she doesn't do any other slot except Christmas Day morning so how is she always on.

To the person who said she is on LBC she did a one off show at Christmas.

Dreadful woman.
So determined to get her interviewees to say what she wants them to, she doesn't bother to listen to the answers orr isn't bright enough to understand them.

I think you're absolutely spot on. Her intellect shines like a beacon. Why, only the other week when Richard III's bones were being paraded around, she was asking some Tudor expert if Henry VII put pressure on Shakespeare to besmirch the old hunchback's reputation.

Now the fact that Henry VII had been dead half a century when Shakespeare was born would have deterred more timid presenters. But not our Kay. Oh no. She ploughed on fearlessly with her intellectual line of questioning, untroubled by such trifling matters as historical chronology. What a gal!
