Ray Winstone threatens to quit Britain.....

....as it's 'being raped by high taxes'.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...y-8528128.html

'Bye then Ray. Doubt you'll be missed.

Pink Knight 10-03-2013 19:35

He should be made to leave for what he did to The Sweeney.

CLL Dodge 10-03-2013 19:39

He could join Depardieu in Moscow.

Yep - John Thaw must be turning in his grave.

bloody attention seeker, 2nd time he's done this according to that article. Either go or stay but don't make silly threats with no substance or decent reason or ideas of solution.
Basically Ray say's 'the government is mugging me right off' yep lots of people feel the same but feel the pain more than Winstone. He's just got a cob on that his latest film was a flop

barbeler 10-03-2013 19:46

Why would he threaten to leave? Does he really think anybody would try to stop him? If he feels that way he should simply go and have done with it.

degsyhufc 10-03-2013 19:51

Ohh, will he take his no talent daughter with him?

Saltydog1955 10-03-2013 20:14

Where will he go?

If he fancies dong a 'Sexy Beast', Spain's in the same shit, or worse, as we are here. If he goes to L.A, he's the sort that'll pine for Heinz Beans and PG Tips, and moan that the beer's not the same.

earthling13 10-03-2013 21:26

Let him go.

I've enjoyed a few things he's done but he's hardly ever stretched himself has he? Remenber the dire Henry VIII or Sweeny Tood? Lucky to have had the success he has had imo.

Grabid Rannies 10-03-2013 21:59

Good, and he can take his "opteevee-uurgh" Arseabix with him.

CreamPuff 10-03-2013 22:00

I never understand why celebs 'threaten' to leave - as if any of us could care less.

Apple_Crumble 10-03-2013 22:01

The comments he makes are actually spot-on.

and can the daughter take that Grimshaw mate with her too. Go on the lot of you, b*ggar off

Mr Teacake 10-03-2013 22:04

He's more likely to threaten a leaf going by his 'ard man persona

Helbore 10-03-2013 22:06

To be honest, he doesn't sound too bad in that article. Not looked up the whole interview, but based on the quotes there, all he is saying is that we're being taxed heavily and aren't seeing anything worthwhile in return. His problem didn't seem to be the taxes, but that high taxes don't seem to be resulting in better infrastructure in return.

He also didn't seem to be "threatening" to leave. More that he thinks the government are ripping us off and he's had enough of it. To be fair, its what most people seem to think anyway!

Grouty 10-03-2013 22:09

"There are more holes in the roads than a tennis racket, we can't build hospitals and fire stations are closing."

Pmsl, so true :D

earthling13 10-03-2013 22:10

He'll probably go somewhere where " It's hot. Hot. Oh, it's f***ing hot" :D

Agree. Like so many people, he just sounds disgusted at the mess and the mismanagement and the incompetance.

.........................................

Typical kneejerk, begrudging reaction to someone perceived as wealthy, expressing a perfectly valid opinion. What he earns or what he's worth is a moot point, he has as much right as anyone else to speak his mind.

...the country was 'being raped' by high taxes..."There are more holes in the roads than a tennis racket, we canít build hospitals and fire stations are closing."

Maybe instead of tax cuts for the wealthy they should pay a bit more and keep those hospitals open?

IvanIV 10-03-2013 22:55

People abuse benefits. That money can't be used elsewhere.

Tory papers would like people to believe that, using the usual divide and rule ploy, on Cameron's behalf..

Less than 1% of benefit claimants are on the fiddle.

EVILSPEAK 10-03-2013 23:08

Odds of leaving - 10/1.
Odds on it being attention seeking - 20/1
Odds on a sequel to The Sweeney - 10,000,000/1
Odds on doing more adverts in an irritating Cockney voice - Evens

Bet in play NAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Hear hear. :)

Perhaps instead of the Bedroom Tax Cameron could make the Mansion Tax law. Then Ray would see the potholes repaired and the hospitals get a bit more cash.

On the other hand, oh dear. Perhaps he'd have to pay it too......

Yep to both these posts. Absolutely nothing wrong with his opinion but typical of the sneering attitudes of some people in this country who hate anyone who has done alright for themselves expressing an opinion out loud, despite the fact the same opinion is being repeated in pubs and offices throughout the country.

I agree with a lot of what he says but them I'm a 40% tax payer so my opinion is obviously far less valid than someone on benefits
