More torrent sites blocked?

I'm with BE* and it appears that H33T KickAss Torrents and Fenopy are now blocked.
I'm getting the message
The page you're looking for has been blocked.

We're complying with a court order that means access to this website has
to be blocked to protect against copyright infringement.

Sick Bullet 21-03-2013 11:42

Kick ass is not down for me, I'm with Virgin and I believe it's due to be blocked yet this was ages ago.

Easy to bypass them anyway.

gother 21-03-2013 11:43

All working fine for me.

DJGM 21-03-2013 12:21

They're blocked here on O2 Broadband (also BE) ... one solution is to Google - or bing - "(name of site) proxy".

flagpole 21-03-2013 13:05

yeah blocked for me on O2. same message as TPB

i wasn't aware of any court order.

ETA

VPN's are usually not free to use. Paying anything to specifically access pirated content defeats the purpose.

Sexbomb 21-03-2013 15:43

Yeah blocked here now on BE*

Just search for proxies like I suggested in post #4.

The pigopolists of the entertainment industry never learn that these blocks are pointless, yet they still demand them!

homer2012 21-03-2013 15:58

Yes Isohunt is fine as well as Vertor/Torlock/1337X/YIFY and others so no need for panic:)

jon craig 21-03-2013 17:47

Of course guys, another way around this problem is to actually go out and pay for music and movies instead of stealing them! Just a thought.....

TBH, don't bother. Like I said earlier:
VPN's are usually not free to use. Paying anything to specifically access pirated content defeats the purpose.

In addition to that, any VPN services that are free to use, such as Hotspot Shield, are slow and unreliable. There may
be others that might claim to be free to use, but they'll very likely have usage limits for bandwidth and/or downloads.

If you want to pay to access content, you might as well use legit streaming services like Netflix or LoveFilm.

Just a thought ... downloading music via torrents isn't stealing. No physical item has been removed without consent when
you download any content (be it music or video) via torrents. It's unlawful copyright infringement, but not actual theft.

soapfan_1973 21-03-2013 18:00

It's taking content for free, without the copyright owners permission, which, if purchased legally would cost money. Dress it up how you like, it's theft. It's taking something you have no lawful right to own. End of.

Correct.

Incorrect.

Legally, theft is ... the unauthorized taking and removal of the property of another by an individual who intends to
permanently deprive the owner of it. If I downloaded music and/or video over the internet, without the permission
of the copyright owner(s), and at the same time, deleted the original copy, and every other copy of what I've
just downloaded, so that I'd be the only person with any copy of that content, that would be theft.

Unlawful unauthorised copying of content where all other copies remain intact ... is ... not ... theft.

End of.

Breaking Bad is (IIRC) available on Netflix, and at least one other similar streaming service.
