Beatles Wives

Bit ironic is nt it....... they all had english wives
Ringo ... Maureen
John...... Cynthia
George Pattie Boyd
Paul .... Jane Asher

But they all ended up marrying foreign women ! from as far apart as Japan and New York

lexi22 19-08-2013 21:21

Ironic? How so?

Paul was never married to Jane Asher.

Rose Budd 19-08-2013 21:29

Paul's first wife was Linda

Misty08 19-08-2013 21:50

Don`t quite get how it`s ironic. It`s also not true. Paul has had an American wife, an English wife and an American wife.

xxtimbo 19-08-2013 22:00

The Beatles got famous for singing in front of thousands of English girls
who swooned for their idols.... dreamed of a Beatles romance, marriage and living happily ever after.

I think its a bit ironic that they ended up marrying a United Nations of wives.

xxtimbo 19-08-2013 22:03

Ringo married a German
Paul married a Yank
George married a Bolivian
John married a Japanese

When the guys and their wives all got together, it must
have been like a meeting of the United Nations !

Misty08 19-08-2013 22:06

They were famous all over the world. They really hit the big time when they went to America. Anyway, yes, of course - it`s ironic.
Barbara Bach is American.

Glad you agree

Yeah you're right Beatlemania was entirely A British thing, no screaming at Airports all over the World at all.

I think it quite ironic that someone who seems to be making a vaguely British point has no concept of the word Irony, which is what the British are famous for.

xxtimbo 19-08-2013 22:44

you d think a tv crew would get going , visit all the ex wives
and make a documentary..... Life after the Beatles.....

and tell us how they are going on these days .... contrast their lives now compared
to the swinging 60s ...
Whats Maureen up to for eg ?

xxtimbo 19-08-2013 22:50

Similarly Its ironic that millions of girls swooned for pop idol George Micheal who turned out to be gay...

am I using the word ironic in the wrrong sense ? please educate me

Paul DID NOT marry Jane Asher

The Beatles travelled all over the world so they were bound to meet women from different countries.

There is an E! True Hollywood Story about The Beatles Wives. Haven't seen it repeated in years though.

Maureen is dead BTW. She died of leukaemia about twenty odd years ago.

Sean no name has gone quiet !

xxtimbo 22-08-2013 22:04

Wonder what Pattie Boyd is up to these days ?

Misty08 22-08-2013 22:13

She wrote her autobiography and has had several photography exhibitions. Have you heard of something called Google? You might like it.

xxtimbo 23-08-2013 00:07

Pattie Boyd was a model who must have
become very much in demand when she became the girlfriend of Beatle George.
Maureen was a looker too, she could have done a little modeling and become more famous and in the public eye, but she did nt get out there in the limelight.

I think this has to be just about the flimsiest basis for a thread ever :D

And the OP has the flimsiest grip on the word "ironic".

Unless you count the rhetorical question "isn't it" in their opening post (which really you can't!) the OP hasn't even invited, or opened anything up for, debate in this thread anyway, just basically stated a view they hold!

Even the follow-up posts from him/her haven't opened up any debate opportunities, but have merely asked questions that anyone could answer with a good Beatles biography or a quick google search. Why the OP hasn't done either of those first, before coming on here, is anyone's guess - too lazy maybe? (I hope he/she doesn't think that not doing so, and then asking those questions here, counts as 'inviting debate' because it doesn't - any more than their opening post does!)

Also, a quick bit of googling and/or biographical reserach would have prevented the OP from looking crass, insensitive and rather ignorant by asking the question about Maureen Starky - something I note that he/she conveniently hasn't responded to, even though their crassness/insensitivity/ignorance was quickly pointed out, and corrected by least two posters! Too embarrassed by their faux pas, maybe, to thank them? After all, they did answer the question that was, apparently, supposed to invite debate!

Strange thread all round.

Yoko is the one I admire most. She has just got on with her life and is a respected artist. I know John being killed was terrible for her, but she's never cashed in on it.
