French channels do have LCN's but Freeview equipment generally puts channels in the 800's if they are not UK channels.

Yes, that's basically true, and also the harder it is to align. However for Freesat reception in the UK a 60 cm dish is more than adequate so don't waste money getting anything bigger.

Lidl have never even sold a Freeview box yet. They have sold non MHEG DVB-T boxes to German spec but that's not the same thing. And they will never sell "digital aerials" as there is no such thing.

Not NTSC means just that, not wrong region. I suggest your TV is geberating this message not your DVD player. Maybe your TV has got set to NTSC mode and is rejecting PAL signals.
