This is correct for the 40 Mbps option, BT Wifi gets a max of 5Mbps dropping to 500Kbps when the connection is in use but on the 80 Mbps package , BT Wifi appears to get 5 Mbps regardless.

Not entirely correct. The viewing cards are administered by Sky Subscribers Services Limited which is part of Sky.

NDS used to handle the viewing card side prior to Cisco buyout last year.

It happened though. Back in the early days of Sky Digital (I think it was in 2001) they update all the Grundig boxes in one go with the software for Pace boxes instantly hosing around 20,000 boxes....
