ITV, C4, C5's catch up services are all HD on Sky and along with iPlayer are 1080i, unlike the web based iPlayer which is only 720p.

There's a lovely UHD test channel FTA on Astra 1&2.

All you need to watch it is a UHD tv with an inbuilt satellite tuner and HEVC.

Why would Sky show matches free when they shared the contract with ITV?:confused:

I expect BT have a clause in their contract to show a certain amount of matches FTA, as thry have exclusivity.

That's good. Needing faster than average fibre, as BT require, excludes a lot of prospective customers.

The Astra SES test channel uses a whole transponder, but the quality is excellent.

Don't know how many streams there were on Freeview for the 2012 Olympics, but on Satellite, Sky paid for and administered the 48 (24 SD and 24 HD) streams the BBC used.

Me too. But there was only two or three channels when I was a boy. These days children have tens of channels just for them, so they're more than likely to skip FTA cricket.
