They left it too late to fix Atlantis. They should have made the tone more like Merlin series 2 onwards, that was when it started to click. The bad writing and bad comedy of series 1 scared viewers...

I think the BBC1 and ITV schedules don't have that much variety on weeknights. We have a few shows on endlessly. It's not that varied on either channel and they aren't doing enough to bring in more...

These promos don't make me want to watch. Show some clips of the programmes to convince me they're worth watching. And on a sidenote when did they sign Gok Wan?

Lack of variety isn't helping either.

Look at weeknights. Soap on one channel, factual on the other. Lack of quizzes or pre-watershed sitcoms between 7-10pm. Viewers come for one or two programmes...

Do the schedules on weeknights make you stick with a channel all night? I doubt it. 22 episode series stifle creativity and so do soaps most weeknights 52 weeks a year. Schedules need a shake up in...

America has more money but the networks can't do risky TV like cable with more challenging material. In this country the main channels can and do have daring programmes. The problem is the rest of...

No clash and being in Blackpool helped Strictly last week. I expect a dip this week. Even though there was lots of press over Claudia returning tonight.

The Champions League can be toxic for ratings when English teams don't progress to the latter stages. That was rare for a long time but has become more common recently. ITV might be better off...

If Citizen Khan was a good performer it would have grown its audience in series 2. It should be getting 5m. BBC1 should have used Thursday at 8.30pm to try and grow sitcoms.

Tuesday should be more consistent with Champions League football out of the way. I expect ITV to be stronger on that night next year.

I think some of those programmes have been more of a national conversation than the soaps. How Sherlock survived the fall? Who killed Danny Latimer? Who will win Bake Off? Bingate in Bake Off. This...

This is something politicians and BBC critics don't understand. The BBC has had hits for years and if there is no populist programming then people really will object to paying the licence fee.

I don't think breaking up The Carters and running the Lucy murder storyline for so long is helping. EastEnders has had 7m on Friday before, not managing it in November is disappointing.

Emmerdale is always going to be lower with a 7pm start. EastEnders should be closer to 7m on a Friday. It managed that during Lucy Beale murder week and a few weeks back. It can't do that in...

They didn't want to travel up there and preferred working in London. Waterloo Road was a BBC Scotland production but filmed in Rochdale.

They'd do well but still wouldn't win the night. Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys would do very well opposite Downton.

That's true. But I think it would make ITV more competitive on the night. If Birds...

The weakest part of Christmas Day potentially for BBC1 and ITV could be the soaps. With ITV if they do Corrie/Birds/Downton or Birds/Corrie/Downton that could work.

BBC1 will have Miranda and Mrs...
