Well leap seconds over 100 years would only at max have a difference of say 2 minutes. That's provided it occurred every year in that 100 year period.

UK gave Germany the ultimatum at 12midnight Berlin time in 1914.

As both UK and Germany are currently in summertime...

It's a shame that they were one hour out of sync. In 1914 the UK declared war on Germany at 11pm GMT as there was no British Summertime until 1916.

As we are currently in BST then the a century on...

But the BBC is a public service broadcaster. It's not beneficial to the broadcaster and the licence fee payer to launch a specialist channel just so that EastEnders can go out as planned.

I'm surprised that the soaps weren't moved temporary to their sister channels during the World Cup tournament. I'm sure they could have moved EastEnders to BBC three and Coronation Street & Emmerdale...

I think if broadcasters want to edit programme deemed unfit for today's audience is fine but I still feel that DVDs should be unedited and if need be, carry a sticker label saying what it contains...

Yep that's right as Russia's time zone is now GMT+4 all year round after they adopted to keep daylight savings all year round. Hence they are 4 hours ahead in winter and 3 hours ahead in summer.
