I lost my dad in 2010, 6 weeks after diagnosis.

This was also after about 2 years of him being ill and nobody knowing what was wrong with him, or missing it completely.

Most stock cube stocks are pretty much just salt and flavouring anyway. I've cooked pasta in vegetable stock before and it does impart some flavour, but really only salt.
