After today's visit, I can highly recommend Castle Tea Rooms on CastleGate - which is parallel to CopperGate - just 2 mins from Clifford's Tower.

Sorry, but no. We have a Bettys here, tourist magnet and over priced. Wouldn't walk 5 mins to ours, so certainly wouldn't drive 40 mins to York to go to Bettys......

York - decent cafe since demise of Danish Kitchen?

Since the Danish Kitchen shut we've tried a few other cafes in York, just for a cuppa and maybe a toasted t-cake, but they are either expensive, cramped, unwelcoming or all 3!

Any suggestions?

Same with the older 4 wheel drive Volvo V70/XC70. Even tiny differences in rolling radius on the same axle would "wind-up" the 4WD system - meaning you had to replace both tyres on the same axle. >:(
