In terms of Eastenders, I think falling to Emmerdale's level is a reflection of the current quality, yes. EE at its best can outperform Corrie, but the current material is awful.

To be honest, it wasn't really a "BIG" episode. The fire was a small scale thing, not a major disaster like the Rovers fire in Corrie, and it was over by 7:15.
