To be fair to them, British commercials are rarely on TV here. The only one I can remember is the British version of the Febreeze commercial.

I thought we Americans allegedly said things the wrong way. Many of these spellings and pronunciations do not match at all.

In Old English maybe some of those pronunciations and spellings made sense.
