There will be a big drop off on Friday of course, as there always is. They're not the most famous bunch of people you could have assembled, I think it's fair to say! But that doesn't mean it can't be a great series and rate well for Channel 5 standards.
Sally's favourite paper the Daily Mail have her on the front page tomorrow I see. The Daily Star is being cheeky and claiming a record audience already, tsk!
Which means C5 have done a great job getting a housemate that will force the Daily Mail to cover the show. I cant think of many other times that the Daily Mail has given BB the time of day let alone the front page.

also for what its worth, Big Brother has never really been about the big star, its about how the housemates interact. If these sub z listers make interesting viewing, there level of fame wont matter.

Would ITV really want to waste a new Poirot up against the ratings juggernaut that is New Tricks?
They air it on Christmas Day when it will inevitably struggle to make an impact - albeit pulling a bigger audience then than on an August Bank Holiday (though with the rain we're getting at the moment, the weather might be better on Christmas Day!)
Big Brother was well produced...Bit On TheSide wasn't but that's the quirk with the show. Considering the lack of opposition it could hit 5m.
Channel5 always get the most bizarre ratings IMO. You can understand them getting good ratings for football and film premieres...but almost 4 million for 'Michael Jackson's Face' or the old (but admittedly funny) Mrs Doubtfire?
their 'Miracle on 34th Street' showing in 2003 was inspired though, I bet the scheduler got a good bonus out of that. Getting on for 5 million for an old film, just because they picked the exact day that people start to get into the Xmas spirit!
yes Channel 5 movies can have a wildcard factor that few other shows (anywhere on TV) get. Amusing seeing Joey in there at 4.53 million considering how it flopped, the same is ture for ITV 2 and Binonic Woman
I have to say I dont understand all this X-Factor coverage about the new female judge become like Cheryl Cole, from the pictures I saw today, the new girl is much better lookng.
I think 8.30pm is probably a better slot for My Family. ITV used to shove random episodes of Coronation St against it on Fridays at 8.30pm in the past, before Coronation St became a fixture there, and the sitcom held up okay. MF doesn't rate that well these days, but I think it'll get 3m or so against Coronation St.
I agree.
My Family should have stuck to the 8:30pm Friday slot.
I prefer it to follow EastEnders anyway and think it can hold up well against Corrie.
The last time My family followed EastEnders (think it was last April or the one before) it had a brilliant rating on the Thursday night

Thanks Dancc, this will be a useful chart to see where CBB fits in tomorrow. Just wanted to add though that the figures here are not really representative of the numbers that watched those games. The Poland match on Channel 5 peaked at 9.2 million (yes 9.2 !) and the Albania match peaked at 8 million.
A new thread on the Broadcasting forum contains the following link suggesting that coverage of the BDO World Darts Championship will be shared between BBC and ESPN:
We'll have to await confirmation of the details but I think the rumour was that BBC would only be showing the last 2 days - ie the semi-finals and the final.
ESPN will presumably be showing the whole event.
It has already been announced that the BBC's other darts tournament, the Winmau World Masters, is moving exclusively to ESPN.
This is obviously pretty low down the list of BBC sports rights in terms of importance but it's a continuation of the recent trend of the BBC losing sports rights.
In recent months the BBC has now lost the following:
Formula One (50% of live races from 2012)
Football League Championship (10 live games from 2012/13)
Carling Cup (2 semi legs + final from 2012/13)
US Masters golf (first 2 days live)
World Athletics Championships
World Open snooker (formerly Grand Prix)
Winmau World Masters darts
BDO World Championship darts (all except final 2 days - ? TO BE CONFIRMED)
Some of the events may be considered fairly minor but in total it's starting to add up to a pretty massive reduction in the BBC TV sports portfolio.
What are the implications:
1) in terms of scheduling? - ie a lot of broadcast hours are going to need replacing - what with?
2) in terms of overall ratings? - ie depending on what the replacement programming is, will there be a significant overall effect on ratings?
My initial reaction is that each loss on its own (with the exception of F1) is not that significant and the replacement is likely to be some kind of "general filler" with some impact on ratings but probably not enough to really show up in overall stats.
But taken together the list is now of such a size (and having regard to the very substantial ratings for F1) that the overall impact is now likely to be significant.
So the BB rumour mill suggesting that Bobby Brown turned up pissed today and failed the psych. So Jedward were rushed in (who were originally going to enter tomorrow night).
So speculation is - can they get Bobby Brown in tomorrow night? and if not - what are they going to do instead?

I have to say CBB was good and Brian did an okay job but having watched BOTS Emma Willis should got the main job, the real test is the next three weeks although i'm assuming that means normal BB will only be 9 weeks long.
Personally I thought the launch show was one of the best live events Ch5 has ever produced, because they hardly ever produce anything on this sort of scale and they coped very well. I liked the titles and Brian coped well, although I agree with Jonwo that I wish Emma would have got the main job. Good move putting Kerry in first-I thought they would have waited till last, but at least it keeps the viewers wondering, especially when they put someone like her in first.
And even though they aren't the most famous bunch I think the set up could work. I loved Tara & Kerry's first meeting. ''I'm Kerreh'', ''Kerreh?'' ''Kerry, yeah'' ''Oh, KerrY'':D
I agree Zoe, for Channel 5 they pulled it out of the bag in terms of setting and stage. The commercials last night were also much better than usual
The housemates - CBB has never been about A - List celebs, you might be lucky and get one A List hasbeen, but it has never been full of any current ones.

Right move putting Jedward in on launch to be honest - without them it would be a bunch of "Who?" to be honest.
I think Tara Ried is a decent get, how many other Big Brothers, have had someone who is about to get film a proper Hollywood movie, and some people in there are good for publicity. Its not a bad mix IMO.
Srue the Gypsy guy is a bit random, but they figure he will get drunk and do something interesting.

Yes agreed, a few are actually as close as they can be to A list:
Tara, Kerry and Jedward. Amy's probably a B list (even though she's just from another reality based show BUT she is very popular with the demographic)
I think that's above anyone's prediction, is it not? Superb figure for Channel 5, furthermore its also the best 'Summer launch' figure for Big Brother since BB9.
Tara Reid is just an American Kerry Katona, just as drug Addled and messed up. I tried to watch last night but gave up after half way because either I didn't like them or didn't know them, to think I missed Torchwood for that Twaddle.
