Any idea who holds the right to broadcast this in the UK?
About time it was repeated somewhere, amongst all the rubbish you get on certain TV channels surely there must be room for this great show to get another airing

With the complete boxset being less than £50 it is a worthwhile investment to watch when you fancy.
I'm not so sure. I still watch TWW regularly and it still holds up pretty well. The biggest problem was that S1 was shot in 4:3
Not sure what you mean. American politics hasn't changed very much, and almost everything is still relevant as far as I can see.
The DVD boxset is disappointing because seasons 1 and 2 are in 4:3. Season 3, as I recall, is in non-anamorphic widescreen, so you either watch it with black bars on all sides, or zoomed in with terrible picture quality.
The picture quality increases significantly from season 4 onwards.
Maybe they're referring to events in Qumar or Equatorial Kundu.
You never hear them mentioned in news over here.
Agree though, would be great to see it on TV again. Maybe Sky Atlantic could broadcast it? They're currently showing every episode of ER.
I asked on the facebook page and they said they didnt have the UK rights, I think its channel 4 that still have them
You may not have noticed that the OP asks:
I'd like to know the answer too - I saw it on More4 but not from the beginning. If C4/More4 still has the rights, I think they ought to show it again.
and even if they announced that they were showing all 7 series theyld give up around series 2
that kind of dedication just doesnt happen on terrestrial
Actually, More4 already repeated the whole seven seasons from start to finish. They showed one a week. It took about three years, but they did get through them all. I know, because that's when I saw it all for the first time.
Warners have released all seven season in HD 16x19 - see http://hd.engadget.com/2010/11/05/all-seven-seasons-of-the-west-wing-finally-available-in-hd-bu/
I'm currently ploughing through them and the quality still looks a bit soft but at least they are widescreen - it looks like they have gone back to the original film negatives as there's no obvious sign it has been zoomed and cropped. Curiously, the opening titles and "previously on" are still 4x3.
Pity it's download only. I'd love to see a Blu-ray release.
I am tempted to buy the full set though as mine have been well used and some disks are a little temperamental!
I didn't like series 1 and my favourite series was series 2.
I never liked Will Bailey as a character, I didn't think the chemistry was there with other actors.
A great series and in the main very well written.
There was a recent contender on Mastermind who answered his specialist questions on the WW, he was very good!
Seconded (after watching all seasons)
you are quite correct, it is indeed the greatest show of all time. I have watched it all several times.
I've seen most of the 1st season in re-mastered 16:9, it does look zoomed in places, but worth a watch. I thought the first 2 seasons were broadcast in 4:3 and it wasn't until season 3 that they went wide-screen and season 4 before they went HD.
The complete WW box set would probably be my Desert Island dvd choice... should Desert Island Discs ever be so radically updated. Even the mediocre seasons are much more compelling than most recent drama.
Agreed, there'd be few other things I'd add other than shows which still haven't finished their runs yet (like Merlin, Game of Thrones) but of completed shows TWW is top of the list, I'd probably want Jonathan Creek and Hamish McBeth on my desert island as well along with Blackadder and 3rd Rock From the Sun just for a bit of comedy.
