I agree, but the Doc never made a list of things to do to get on with the villagers. Yet Morton has an odd analytical bent unlike Martin. There is something else too that gets me. She acts almost emotionless and that jars with being a wife with four kids. There must have been trauma in her life? Perhaps that will be revealed latter.
She does reveal moments of vulnerability, and also shows softer moments when interacting with her husband. I agree, there must be something more in her background.

Several of the recent posts have addressed the part CC plays in DCI Banks and I will expand that to include MC in A Mother's Son and The Town. The missing ingredient is the direction of Ben Bolt. He knows how to pull out the best acting abilities in both of them to "make the scene".
