I managed to get it on contract a few days ago. I like it and haven't really had problems so far with it.
I am a light user, I'd say... yesterday I installed Angry Birds to give it a go and while playing I got a phone call.
I answered and it was then that I noticed how hot the phone was, holding it close to my ears. It was uncomfortably hot.
Call wasn't dropped, just had to get the earphones.
I know it's got a powerful processor inside so that's why it overheats, but I am afraid the phone might get damaged if this happens often (that's my main worry I'd say).
I can live without playing games on it (I am not a gamer). I don't think it got hot with my normal use, but I've only had it for a few days.
The phone is in a leather case. It seemed to me the whole screen was hot.
I read other people are having this problem too.

Yes you can move apps to SD with the latest update.
The heat issue seems to be very common. A lot of people World wide are complaining about it.
If you see my thread here it's one of the reasons I got rid of my S4.
Only yesterday I saw my Niece and she was saying how very hot her S4 gets when talking on the phone and when charging.
This needs to be fixed, because I suspect one day, someone somewhere will either get burned or their phone could well burst into flames.
This seems to be the consensus on forums likes xda and android central, the latest update means the handset doesn't get as hot.
It's not yet fully rolled out in the uk though.
I have to say, it is getting warm even when it's charging or with very light use. I can feel the screen is quite warm.
I did the software update available the other day from the phone itself, It doesn't bother me that much, I am just worried about the heat damaging the phone in the long run.
But if you feel it's a bit too hot, take it into a store and let them have a look - they'll know if it's out of the ordinary or not.
This is a World wide problem with the S4. Looks like the HTC One gets it too.

You can't moves apps to the SD with Jelly Bean. The update that allows that is from Samsung themselves and not Google (Android). This hasn't been rolled out officially in the UK yet, not on unbranded phones anyway which are normally last to get the update.
My phone is on a contract with 3. I got the OTA update and now I went and checked and there is the option to move apps to the SD card (I don't have one installed at the moment anyway).
I read the heat has fried a lot of SD cards, so I haven't inserted it into the phone yet.
See, unbranded/unlocked phones always the last.
Surely it'd be the other way around? The unbranded version should get the update first?
Well ive had my S4 since may 1st with an SD card and mine hasnt fried, nor have any of my friends or the fair few ive sold
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
I am on 3 contract and not received the update. When did you get it?
Mine is not branded Three however, I do not think any of the pre-orders were branded or locked.
