It's a rumour, but I don't like the sound of it at all. Does it hurt to go back to how it was before last year where the voting would open after the performances?

I'd just worry about the time limit- 200 seconds is too short. Also will it be the end of deadlock as we know it? According to the article the contestant with the lowest amount of votes from Saturday will be eliminated if it's a deadlock situation.
Internet forum users want back to basics but in my opinion a back to basics approach would kill the show completely Going backwards can't be an option IMO.
I think a lot of good vocalists could be at a disadvantage to those who create more of an impression, be it style, personality etc
The problem with using it for the sing off is it would become like an elimination vote- someone would be saved, not necessarily because people like them, but because people dislike the other contestant. You could potentially end up with a relatively unpopular winner. It would be too Big Brother in my opinion.:)
Unless they do another 200 second vote in case of deadlock.. actually - I think that a new vote when it comes to deadlock should be introduced anyway.
This series is looking quite promising. Please, don't spoil it now!
After the finalists have performed on Saturday night, the viewers will have 200 seconds to vote. The act with the lowest amount of votes after the 200 seconds is up will be announced. This act will be in the bottom two on Sunday night.
The lines will open again for 24 hours for us to vote for the remaining acts. The act that comes bottom will join the Saturday act in the bottom two.
If the judges can't make a decision and send it to deadlock, the act that was bottom on Saturday's show will be automatically eliminated.
That's my understanding of the article, anyway
Bad idea imo
That's what I was thinking. I guess it would put an end to the judges pussying out and sending it to deadlock just to avoid having the casting vote?
Well I'm guessing it wont be deadlock as we know it. The judge won't really be backing out if they opt to go to deadlock, because they already know who will leave if they go down that route. They won't be able to hide behind the excuse 'I didn't know who I wanted to go, that's why I went to deadlock'
I assume that we won't have a deadlock. If the judges don't reach a majority verdict then the least popular contestant on Saturday's show, will leave the competition. Simple :P
I think the only thing they need to change with the live shows is the set!
Still they do Eurovision voting across the whole of Europe in ten minutes across 40 countries - so it shouldnt pose any logistical difficulties.
Sounds like this is the main intention behind this twist.
The first point won't happen as they won't be comparing the Saturday vote with the Sunday vote like that. What will happen is whoever is bottom on Saturday will face whoever is bottom on Sunday in the judges vote with the sing off. All the acts will be in both votes, except the act who is bottom on Saturday.
Agree with the second point but I suspect that's deliberate to avoid another Christopher Maloney situation and to ensure the acts more popular with the younger voters and therefore more likely to do well after the show go further.
I do like it overall. Not sure if its perfect but I do think it was necessary to shake up the live shows a bit and this should do that. Should add more energy and tension to the Saturday shows definitely, and give the Sunday shows a slightly different dynamic.
It certainly is flawed - in more ways than one.
200 seconds isn't a lot of time at all. Any act could be bottom of the pile after those 200 seconds are up. The difference in votes between each act will literally be in the hundreds for the first few minutes. It needs to be at least a 20 minute vote to "settle" the figures. 200 seconds may see contestant A at the bottom, but another two minutes, and contestant B could've been there - it'll be a free for all, and whilst they'll all have an equal chance, it'll just be down to luck/who gets their vote in quick enough. Which is ridiculous.
The votes cast will be a very small number in comparison to the Sunday votes and won't give a true representation of the vote, which is why it's even more unfair that the Saturday act goes home in a deadlock situation.
