Indeed. The only thing I've watched from the Christmas Day schedule over recent years is Doctor Who. Invariably, I've saved up a series to start on the big day. This year I've got The Night Of to start, plus I'll also watch The Last Dragonslayer (Sky1) as that is meant to be good fun.

All that'll prove is that Christmas Day is full of stuff that isn't appointment-to-view and can just be watched at anytime. I'd say having Sherlock, for example, on today would be an 'event-TV' show. There's nothing of that nature on today.
The Shirley Bassey tribute and Peter Kay clip should have been nowhere near the three main days. Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day should have drama and comedy specials in primetime.
I'd say a musical special featuring a singer with cross-generational appeal actually suits Christmas. Might've been better with more promotion and a better host though.
The Kay clip show was on at gone 10pm, so it's hardly like they stuck it on in primetime.

Gold showing The John Bishop Christmas Show at 7.55pm, first shown last year on Monday 21st December on BBC1. An interesting choice for them but JB seems to have become a UKTV star this year.
It's followed at 9.15 by Blackadder's Christmas Carol which is also on BBC2 at 7.15. I think I'd prefer to see it without these bloody annoying commercial breaks. Friday night Gold showed The Queen Of Sheba episode of The Royle Family which was shown on Thursday on BBC1 sans those bloody annoying commercial breaks.

By the way those who said last night that Saving Mr Banks (good film as I agree that it is) by passed Sky. It didn't. We watched it on Sky almost a year ago.
I said Lady in the Van should do better than Mr Banks as the former bypassed Sky.
