Are there any spin-off series you liked much more than the show it originally spun from?
I much prefer Xena than Hercules.
I also liked Daria more than Beavis and Butthead

DS9
Frasier
Max & Paddy
Daria
and I have to disagree, Xena was fantastic and actually had storylines and better character development.
Anyway, I think the 'King of Queens' is claimed as a spin off of 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. I can't stand 'Raymond', but adore the 'King of Queens'.
Angel
Xena: warrior Princess
Also, though early, The Originals.
Very early
I don't see how one episode can be better than 4 seasons of the vampire diaries. Too early to judge.
But each to their own
How is The Simpsons a spin off?
It started as a series of "shorts" within episodes of Fox's The Tracey Ullman Show.
Because it was originally a sketch on The Tracey Ullman show.
It appeared in The Tracey Ullman Show.
NCIS:LA over NCIS as well for me
Frasier over Cheers mainly due to my age I grew Up with Frasier, Cheers was slightly before my time though I've seen them on repeat etc I still prefer Frasier
SVU over Law and Order
Joey over Friends ) ) Nah Just kidding lol
King of Queens isn't a spin off is it? It just featured Raymond in a few episodes so its set in the same universe so to speak but I wouldn't ever say it was a spin off from Raymond at all
I'm not a regular watcher of The Vampire Diaries. But this spin-off attracted me to the show. So without any intention of watching the TVD, and instantly liking this new show, for me it is already better than its predecessor.
It gets considered a spinoff (e.g. here) although it's not a spinoff proper. The reason for it being labelled a spinoff is that Kevin James originally appeared on ELR as 'Kevin', a buddy of Raymond's and later a UPS guy. This was obviously the prototype Doug Heffernan, who then became 'The King of Queens'. Raymond then guested on KOQ as himself. All a bit messy - but ELR gave Kevin James his 'character' which was then renamed 'Doug' and given its own show.
It's not really a spin off though, it began as the Simpsons, it remained the same basic show when it was picked up by the networks.
