Do any of the team behind the latest Doctor Who actually read the threads on here and take any of the comments into account? It would be nice if they did, as the programme would drastically change. For the better.
They ought to, if they don't, as Davros seriously needs to come back. What I also remembered the other day is, that we haven't had a proper story involving the Daleks since 'Victory of the Daleks' in 2010. I would so love it if we had the coloured ones back to face the Doctor and his latest assistant Clara.
There hasn't been a full-on Dalek story since April 2010, featuring loads of Daleks facing the Doctor. I really enjoyed VOTD and The Stolen Earth/Journey's End.
I want to know what has happened to Davros. Is he dead? Did he get blown up when the Crucible exploded? Or did he just manage to escape in time? It looked as though it is a high chance that he didn't make it, but who knows?
As for the Master. I don't want him to return just yet.

God I hope not.... that way madness lies.
Asylum of the Daleks wants a word with you
RTD said (in his book The Writer's Tale) Helen Raynor "was, literally, shaking afterwards. Like she’d been physically assaulted. I’m not exaggerating." after reading the threads on the old Outpost Gallifrey board about the two series 3 Dalek episodes she wrote. Doesn't seem sensible to do it really.
Full passage from The Writer's Tale is here: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=902745
I suspect there was a degree of honest naivety there re: Helen, simply assuming that fans of the show would generally be positive about it. I do think at times fans almost seem to forget they are talking about actual human beings when they really let rip.
The worst case I can remember though was poor James Moran, who during Children of Earth was blogging about the series and really engaging with the fans on his blog, then after day 4, the Ianto nutters jumped all over him being highly abusive, some even posting death threats against him even though he didn't even write that aspect of the story!
Also I wouldn't think too highly of a writer who turned to internet forums to get story ideas or gage opinion on what they should be writing. It suggests a paucity of ideas that suggests they probably shouldn't be writing in the first place.
Saying things like 'well I want Davros back so they should jolly well do as I say' sounds a little bit like the kind of overly demanding sense of entitlement that will lead many people to whinge after the fiftieth that it wasn't any good because it didn't fit exactly with what they dreamt up months before. Best to have some faith that DW has an amazing team of writers that will give us some great stories and leave it at that. If DW was written by fan committee the anniversary special would resemble a cross between a pantomime and a sci-FI convention on a wet weekend in Milton Keynes. Plus the show would be cancelled within three years. Heed the dire lesson of JNT.
Would it really change for the better? Some of the theories on here are just really ridiculous fanwank. Anyway, for me, the show is at the best it's ever been seen 2005.
I'm still waiting for the enormous significance of Amy's staircase and Rory's hospital pass to be revealed. It presumably all gets sorted out in the 50th.
Saw Dinosaurs again on BBC3 last night - lovely stuff. The recent episodes were a treat. imho.
Well I am still waiting for it to be revealed that Adam is Davros and that Harriet Jones is a Dalek....:p
What if there isn't any significance to those things?
of course there is, fans are never wrong, did you not know
noooo... there has to be... why would a house have a staircase that went nowhere... except it could just be an old one... and there could have been new stairs to the attic elsewhere... oh...
I haven't been up long so forgive me for being slow
Yes, we all saw how pandering to the fans did so much to improve the original show.
Besides, which of the myriad and diametrically opposing suggestions and opinions are they suposed to take seriously..? My guess is...the ones that you agree with..!
Regarding the Daleks, my bet is still on them being back for Christmas. It's not just the Doctor's 50th, The Daleks first screened on the 21st December, 1963.
JMS, creator of "Babylon 5" was one of the first showrunners to use the internet to engage with fans. There is still today a moderated newsgroup (now a Google group) where he occasionally answers fans questions and posts news (when they're interesting to him and haven't been asked many times already). When the show was current it was rather like this forum, but with the added bonus of the showrunner's presence.
The only rule in this newsgroup was not post story ideas.
I suppose a modern way of doing the same would be a blog, but that's relatively one directional.
it was but you hit the nail on the head... so I just played it up.
I'd like to see maybe a comic relied/CIN special where they could do a committee made story like that though- just as an experiment to see how it actually worked out. Might be interesting to see the results.
The stairs were stairs. There was nothing wrong with the stairs:p
If you wanted to go up them you'd go up, if you wanted to go down you'd go down. I think someone with no spacial awareness had a brain fart at the time and made a big deal out of them? Plenty of houses have stairs in them, even ones that looks like they shouldn't from the outside ( I've been in a few). I had no idea there was an issue with the stairs at all until I saw someone mention them on a thread here- just a few months ago.
The badge thing- I explained to myself that it was because time was being sucked through the cracks already when we saw that bit, with whole years disappearing. Meaning that he could have his badge done in 1990, then 3 years later it was 2010. Everyone thought nothing of it because the missing years in between didn't exist, to them it made perfect sense that 2010 minus 3 years was 1990. That was how it was supposed to be. Just like at the end of the series there was supposed to be no stars in the sky etc.
whatever happened to that chap who was trying to sue the show for "stealing" his design for Davros?
Yeah, sorry. I seem to have a default setting of droll sarcasm. But I'm a naughty poster who forgets to put smiley things as aids for the unwary. Sorry. The rule of thumb is "if it's Nebo - ignore.".
No, it would kill the programme inside of a year, two at the outside. I'm absolutely serious about this. Why? Well:
Let's face it, most ideas on forums such as this are barely fit for fan fiction stories at the absolute best. To use your example of Davros, the VAST bulk of the audience doesn't care and while I'm sure there's a good story to be told there is it one that *needs* to be told? Is it one that fits into the restrictions of the show as it is now? Is it one, in short, that deserves a production slot ahead of any other story? In this time and place, where Davros is know to most only from Journey's End and who can be considered dead until further notice, almost certainly not.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but the thought of a show, any show, being run according to the whims of t'internet is just, well, horrifying.
