Can anyone tell me all the different Sky+ boxes available?
I currently have sky+ (Amstrad box) but I am not sure of its hard disk size. It appears to have only about 25 hours of recording.
Through this forum I have been advisesd to get a new improved box rather than a non sky box but can someone point me in the right direction?
The sky site doesnt make the Sky+ options very clear and they dont the put hard disk space in their advertising. I know there is a hew HDD box. Ideally I would like the option to record to DVD disk also.
Thanks.

And to identify your box type look here:

It's all on Digital Spy if you know where to look
I got mine only last year so how did I end up with a 40gb box?
I guess they would want an install fee also??
(I am not very confident regarding messing with these boxes)
The only box that Sky sell with 160GB of personal recording space avilable for use is Sky HD.
Sky+ 160 is no longer avilable.
All of the lastest Sky+ boxes (PVR 3's) have a 160GB hard drive installed but only 80GB (40 hours recording) is available for personal use the remaining space is reserved for use by Sky Anytime.
The slightly older Pace boxes (PVR 2.5 (Version No: 9F23--)) have a 160GB hard drive installed which untill recently only had 80GB available for personal use however now the entire drive is available for personal use.
So if you want a box 160gb hard drive of personal use your options are:
* Buy Sky+ 160 or older Pace PVR 2.5 from somewhere like eBay
* Or Buy a Sky HD box
* Or Upgrade the HD in your current box see here
They all devote 160Gb to Anytime, but all have 320Gb drives.
160GB personal storage
140GB Anytime
PVR3 Sky+ boxes have 160GB drives:
80GB persona storage
80GB Anytime
Double the Hd size but maybe not double the storage hours if recording HD channels
Sounds like you have been looking on eBay
Sky will sell you a box with installation and a new contract
Prices are starting at £299 depending on the services you take ( BB , Sky Talk ) you can get the price down
