Does using PAC code automatically cancel contract?

Hi,

I requested my PAC code from Orange last week (I'm within 30 days of contract end).

This morning I passed this code over to Virgin. I should expect set up of my old number on my new Virgin sim to take between 24-48 hours.

Will my contract now be terminated by Orange automatically, or do I still need to give them a ring?

    Thank you. I'll let until the number has been transferred then ring Orange to confirm contract end.

    Sorry, I should've added that I've only ever used a PAC to leave Orange and it was automatic but that was two years ago.

    Assuming you pay by Direct Debit I would also cancel that after your final bill is paid.

    Yet nobody has stated it clearly that:

    1) Yes, it will always be cancelled when you use a PAC

    2) It's a legal requirement that it works like this.

    I know of several people who have been billed after they have PAC'd out.

    Which is why i said it was always worth checking. You disagree?

    I will!

    PACing out has to cancel the contract (as others have said this is a requirement). You will generally ALSO get a final Bill from the previous contract for some days and/or notice period - so no conflict with this!

    Now a question! You give the current network their 30 days notice and then use a PAC within those 30 days. How does the conflict between these two cancellations get resolved?

    Once the migration completes the old account closes down for services, only the ability to bill for services used when active remains, the PAC expiry date is simply a use by date.

    You can in theory move as many times as you want, as I remember the timescale is usually next working day from transfer being booked on mnp (the system used by all networks to book transfers and issue pac's)

    I used to work on that system
