Do you think that maybe the bbc would be best to try a light entertainment pilot block and create a eight week trial on screen as they once did with the comedy playhouse. A sketch show with a comedian. A game show. Apanel game. Just to mix it up like a kinda festival idea and then see if any good ideas grow from it.

    RTL in Germany are doing something pretty similar soon. For the next 3 Fridays, they're trying out new entertainment shows;
    1. Shooting Stars - Promis an ihren Grenzen (Stars at their limits); (this format is Born to Shine, the one shown on ITV in 2011).
    2. Unschlagbar (Unbeatable)
    3. Cash Crash
They all look ok. Good to see someone making an effort. I agree the BBC should do something like this.

This week's ratings for Daybreak (exc +1), with last week's in brackets:

    Mon: 673k/17.2% (729k/17.5%)
    Tue: 680k/16.8% (681k/17.0%)
    Wed: 651k/16.4% (682k/16.6%)
    Thu: 652k/16.2% (694k/16.5%)
    Fri: 620k/15.9% (655k/15.9%)

Over the first six full weeks of this year (starting 7 January) Daybreak has averaged 672k (16.4%), down by 4% in viewers and by 1.3 share points on the equivalent period in 2012* which averaged 702k (17.7%).

    * That was the six weeks from 9 January 2012, during the interregnum of Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway, and is comparable as most schools had half-term during the week of 13-17 February, the final week in the analysis, but a few had the following week off instead, similar to this year.

EDIT: Including +1 doesn't really improve matters. This year so far has averaged 684k (16.75%) versus 712.5k (17.97%) in 2012, so it's down 4% and 1.22 share points on this measure.

Thanks for that - sounds like another relaunch is in the offing

    Thanks KMair. :)

Good start to Let's Dance, considering the opposition though, I don't think it is a great start, as next week it will be up against Ant and Dec.

What did The FA Cup peak with?

Have to say that's a good start for Let's Dance - however the opposition will be different next week.

    Share pretty good aswell.

I don't think the 9pm start for Jonathan Ross is helping it.

I can imagine Ant and Dec and Lets Dance attract the same age group of viewers. Having bands like one direction, the script and Kimberly from GA would really appeal to a younger audience. It will be good to see some real competition on a Saturday night from next week.

I'm amazed at that Let's Dance rating - given that it's somewhat past its best, I expected it to be in the high 4s/low 5s, To be pushing 7m is fantastic!

Thanks. The siege was quite strong stuff even after all the editing.

I can remember reading Wyatt's book that the the atmosphere of the original episodes was heavy with 'sexual menace' or something similar.

    Great for Let's Dance.

Funny how many of those wailing about Let's Dance seemed to be glad handing ITV for its (supposed) "hit" show Splash - a million times more execrable than Let's Dance is.

Let's Dance won't feature in the lists of most derided shows in 2013. Splash will.

This is a silly question, but as the Lotto draws are live, does this mean the show itself (In it to Win it) is live also?

Thanks for the ratings KMair. Do you have any ratings for The Sparticle Mystery on CBBC yesterday? I know some people that work on it.

They were repeats yesterday. I'm interested also to see how the first run episodes did during the week.

Well I'm surprised Let's dance was that high. I was expecting 5m. I think it will be in the 4-5m range next week. SNT should be in the 5-6 range. I don't an't to see big gasps at lets dance loosing 2m next week because it is probably going to happen and we all know it. The football did okay for what it was. The old timers in it to win it and casualty did okay as well.

That is the highest Saturday night figure of he year so far. I think the bbc need more light hearted entertainment shows that are just fun and silly. Because there is a captive audience out there.

But a good start to a supposedly bad show. :D

So in the end this week hasn't been bad at all for BBC one.

Anything less than 5 or even 6m will be a disappointment for SNT considering the ratings it has gotten in the past. It got over 7m for the launch of the last series (2009).
