Love him or loathe him, Paul is a very hard act to follow and James really shouldn't have tried. Awkward in interviews and no real talent as a singer/songwriter, I expect he will soon disappear.

If you are going to make good money from being a public figure then you have to expect comments about your looks or lack of them or your talent or lack of it.

It is like arranging a gallery of pictures but you cannot comment on them! Tis a nonsense!

This McCartney junior may have depression or something as he acts rather odd! :o

Maybe he has never, ever recovered from the death of his mother...he was only about 14 and the only one living at home with Paul at the time. He then watch the Heather debacle too, has a kid sister too now. Linda was always in the background of Paul's solo career but he was so nuts about her.
I think maybe James wanted that moment that Julian Lennon had when he emerged as an image of his father, with his father's voice too. Julian also being very, very messed up.

    He was 20.

I've seen him interviewed before and I just don't get it. He's 35 now, must be used to being in the limelight, and must have spent a lot of his life surrounded by the media and people in the music industry, so surely he should be able to conduct a half decent interview.

If it is that he is shy and awkward and doesn't like the attention, then I'd suggest that the career of "pop star" is probably not for him.

That said, his looks are irrelevant. And, reading that comment back, I mean that as in, there is no need to discuss them!

I hope so. I feel very embarrassed for him when he does pop up. I also think it's too easy to blame his awkwardness purely on being shy. I've known people who are very shy, like my own mother, but she's still able to hold a proper conversation and not come across as rude and uninterested. I do think JM is just a bit of an oddball and not remotely suited to the career path he's chosen.

I saw two seconds of him on BBC Breakfast (I think it was a little thing before they went to the news) and felt awkward just from that! :D

I'm shy (isn't everyone in some way?) but there comes a point in life where the excuse of shyness does not wash anymore. He needs to acquire a personality.

He has spent his life being Paul McCartneys kid, remember the picture of Paul and Linda on their private jet with all their kids? these celeb kids had lives we can only dream of, he put them into State school but they were picked up from school in Rolls Royces! they had huge wealth and grew up in the world of celebrity.

I just feel he has not got the looks to be in a band or be a lead singer, it's cruel but being truthful..he is the image of his Dad, but not the young Paul from The Beatles but the old man Paul!
the poor chap is weird looking as he looks so much like his Dad but is very old looking for his age and shy/rude whatever, he should have become a movie producer or something that doesn't involve being in front of cameras and being interviewed.

Stella McCartney always came across as up herself too and arrogant, look how fast she became a world famous designer all because of Daddy, maybe arrogance runs in Paul's family.

It's kinda sad for Jimmy Mac . .
He's the son of Paul Mac
He's clearly messed up by being the son of Macca & Lindy Lou
    He's now released an album & he's in his 30's . .
    He's uncomfortable in interviews . .
Why are you doing this, Jimmy ?
Where have you been all this time, Jimmy ?
Plus, he sorta looks like an onion . .

It was so embarrassing on Breakfast, Bill T mentioned PM, & he piped up up "Hes my dad" as if he thought BT didnt know. He also got tongue tied, & the song was awful & flat.

I was so surprised when I saw him on TV recently. The last time I saw a pic of him was at his sister's wedding when he turned up with flipflops, a bottle of Whisky and very, very thin. He looked so like Paul then now he Looks bloated and odd. He keeps saying he wants to make it on his own, but he has Paul play on his records and during his first few performances, his Dad and various famous people turned up and joined him on stage. Sounds like Stella and her Fashion Show when she graduated from her Fashion Academy, she had various famous models turn up to model her clothes.

I thought Julian Lennon was talented and he wrote some great Songs. Perhaps James will improve but at the Moment his stuff is nothing Special and would not even get a Play if he was not Paul's son.

If he does not want to promote himself, he should choose another career.

Mary McCartney is absolutely lovely and charming. I don't think it is arrogance on James' behalf, incredible awkwardness and gaucheness maybe, but not arrogance. He should just stick to smaller, less public interviews as his songwriting was gathering some positive criticism. He is certainly not media savvy!

Having watched a bit of the interview (a bit was all I could stand!), I think James also has a VERY dry humour which never comes across well these days and I think the "he's my dad" comment has been misconstructed as arrogant, so I will defend him on that one much to my surprise. I do stand by my opinion that he's not cut out for a media based career in any way though. He just doesn't have the much needed charm or anything spontaneous about him.

As someone who has dry, dark humour myself it's very easy for people to mistake it for outright bitchy nastiness. Dry and dark humour has become very unfashionable in recent years because people seem have lost the ability to not take everything literally. It's frustrating and makes me a little sad.

James needs to take more notice of how what made it work for his dad.

    Talent.

Perhaps he could be better as a mechanic.

He'd be better appreciated if he could go out and change a stranded car that has a flat KIntyre!

    So?

My comment was in reply to the person who said that James was about 14 when HIS mother died and that he was the only child living at home with his dad at the time.

I just said that James was actually 20 at that time.

I once dated a veggie who made me eat Linda McCartney frozen pies. God they were terrible, and that's when she was alive and presumably involved.
Saw an ad for the brand recently, it was all hippy dippy with a VoiceOver that kinds remarkably like Paul McCartney. Quell surprise.

I think the whole lot of them are overrated. Epecially Ringo. Peace and love, peace and love.

I'm veggie and I've never been particularly fond of the Linda M range. It's okay but just not to my taste. I do think Linda started it with good intentions, though.

And Ringo, bless him, what was that peace and love business about? It was like he was really angry but really trying not to be. :p

Actually, I agree with you. and it`s what we British are supposed to specialise in, but we don`t seem to get it anymore. As for James, he`s not media-savvy, but why does everyone have to be?

The offspring seems completely devoid of talent or personality.

Will he be on next years "the voice"?
