Does anyone know the best way to back up emails from Windows live mail. I want to back them up then put them back when I get my new laptop.
I have tried to back them up using the windows live mail menu account export into a new folder and I can't open the folder it says I need a programme to open them up :mad::mad: any advice would be appreciated thanks.

firstly create a folder, maybe on your desktop. right click, new > folder.
call it email backup.
in WLM go to export - windows live mail - then where it says folder, click browse and find the folder you just created.
there are other ways too. like there are apps that do lots of things:
I've also used their free Outlook and Outlook Express versions across machine rebuilds, ie backup and restore to rebuilt machine. Excellent little app.
A step by step example would be great thanks.
just back up your WLM as i explained.
More importantly, your emails should already have been backed up. If something had happened to the machine (failed hard drive, WLM crash, malware, user error, etc., etc.), you could have lost the lot.
I save them on to a USB stick but when I try and open I get
WLM.FOL what is that ?
Any .eml files can be opened up manually (as long as you already have WLM installed), but there's not much point in doing that.
