If the ball boy hadnt been such a cheating shit from the get go, none of this would have happened, would it?

As I said earlier, I doubt he would be prosecuted, but if someone complains it will be investigated.

That is quite a climbdown from "definitely capable of being charged with assault" which you posted earlier.

Yep, on this basis Southampton shouldnt be allowed to play Luke Shaw as he is a mere "child".

The twitter stuff seems to indicate he was brought back especially for this game to premiditatedly waste time and also possibly the son of the owner Martin Morgan.

Or he could have said it as a joke never expecting it to end up like this?

    Stupid decision.

That ball boy was being a little shite.

I agree with your second statement. The player should have known better.

The boy should be banned from doing the job ever again. This isn't the first time that a ball boy has attempted to be an hero.

The ballboy may be a minor but he's also a major arsehole

It would suggest he is a minor.

    Well his age suggests otherwise

Eric Cantona was banned for 8 months for kicking a fan.

There was more intent in the Cantona case. This one might be seen as "kicking out and not caring if he hit the ball or the ballboy", which is still reckless.

Not really. It's possible for him to be charged. It's up to the CPS.

Well we don't know for sure do we, but even still a 17 year old isn't classed as an adult.

Uk immigration considers all people under 18 a child.

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez: "Eden Hazard has been in to see the ball boy and the two have apologised to each other.

"The ball boy knows he was wasting time. We are disappointed to lose the player but we cannot change things."

"The boy was apologising for time wasting. Hazard was frustrated and tried to get the ball. He was kicking the ball and getting the ball.

"We can analyse if for half an hour but we know that both are wrong."

If i hear the words "kicking a kid" once more in the media i will despair. This is no "kid".

He's still legally classed as a minor in the uk so yes he's still a kid.

IIRC, For the purpose of the law on assault, a minor is under 16.

Mmm, his friend 'Chloe' at 6pm also asked that he falls over to waste time, 2+2 in this case really does add up to 4.

    Oh this is absolutely marvelous.

I've really fallen out of love with the game. It has officially gone mad.

Sums it up for me. Ball boy wrong to lay on the ball. Chelsea player wrong to kick it from under him and in so doing catching the boy in the process. It's clear the ball boy milked the situation for all it was worth.

Of course it is possible. Personally I would not say it is enough for the police to take it further.

They probably do have to look into it so no surprise they are doing so.
