In my opinion there has never been someone so suited to a role as Hattie Jacques playing Matron in the Carry On films, she was absoloutely perfect. Does anyone agree.

I think she was good in all four of the hospital Carry Ons, but I think her best performance was Carry On Doctor where her character shows another side to her.

The NHS could do with some matrons like Hattie.

Agree she was very attractive, especially in Carry On Doctor.

Hattie was a class act. We will never see the likes of her again, that is why fans like me enjoy watching her so much on the screen, especially in the Carry Ons.

Yes, she certainly would make a great Matron, teach these young ones today a thing or two, especially if she appeared in Casualty!!

Yeah, I love her in all the Carry Ons particularly the hospital ones and particularly Doctor which is my favourite Carry On, mainly because of Hattie. Her performance as the strict Matron with a hidden love for Dr Tinkle is fantastic.

Just watched Carry On Doctor and I think her performance is spot on, her Matron is incredibly strict but I think the female patients revenge on her is a bit much. :(

Maybe I've missed it but this film never seems to be on like a lot of them, whereas Carry On Up The Khyber seems to be on all the time.

Not only that, she had a very active sex life, and was loved by all who came to know her well.

Yes on nearly every Carry On commentary they say if you had a problem it was Hattie you turned to, she's my favourite actress ever.:D

He pretty much did in Carry On Again Doctor, when he saw her bending over a desk.

It would have been nice to see her in a straight role. I'm sure she would have been brilliant.

Yes she did seem to be typecast in comedies which was a shame for her, although it was great to have her in the Carry Ons, Sykes etc. But I think she could have done anything.
