I think thats what it needed as a starting point, certainly. They need to trim the fat. Once you have a small team that delivers, then you earn the extra funding and can expand. These things don't happen over night.

According to the Time her coach is to be annouced as the new Director.
Thats the same as many sports with low medal targets, if specific individuals/team dont win, you fail. Swimming is a shambles in this country and deserves no special treatment
Yep, the OP is ridiculous and his post comes across as extremely simple minded, ummmmm throw money at it, duh!.
Swimming has had enough money and still gets enough money, as you say its always been an absolute shambles here, take the one freak of nature - Adlington - out of the equation and its a complete embarassment, she won her medals despite British Swimming not because of them, no doubt about that.
Felt really sorry for Adlington in London, its like the team bar Jamieson were almost all looking at her to win a gold or 2 instead of wanting to do it for themselves, really really weird, she done brilliant still aswell, 2 Bronzes were a top effort.
She can look back on her career with her head held high knowing she got the absolute maximum out of herself, how many other swimmers can say that? a few at most.
The reality is there are way too many medals on offer to give up on it, if it was any other sport they would of had funding slashed to the bare minimum ages ago for consistantly underperforming.
Such a contrast between the cycling squad and their ability to peak and perform when it really matters as against the swimming squad.
Would be fascinating to see how Dave Brailsford and his abilities in recruiting the best folk and organising things, and his famous supposed ability to look for every little thing that can add even a tiny percentage improvement, would do as overall head of the swimmers.
They are 100% professional, the swimmers simply arn't.
If it was just about money we would have seen massive improvements long before now, and we haven't. More money won't achieve what it's already failed to achieve.

You have the right idea, the Mileys, Halsalls etc need to be binned off and we need to rip it up and start from scratch, they have had their chances and blew it, anyone that thinks they will do anything in Rio is in cloud cukkoo land.
To me what was wrong was the attitude of the Swimmers who had the happy to be here kind of attitude, & what needs changing is getting a squad of Swimmers that have the desire & hunger to want to win Olympic Gold. It dawned on GB Cycling after Sydney games that they need to get rid of the happy to be here brigade & get Cyclists who want to win & look how that's been rewarded. Swimming has had plenty money thrown at it. Only 3 PBs were achieved by GB Swimmers in London.
