Why would they get into trouble? Have the rules about advertising changed since then?
Whatever the rules about advertising are/were, I doubt they'd be ever able to show the sponsorship graphics. They're seperate from adverts, and seeing as the sponsorship deal is long expired, I doubt anyone would be happy.
And Sam- please stop. Surely you've noticed by now that people are just ignoring you?
It's worth pointing out that the repeat today is on at 11PM instead of midnight due to Scuzz "taking over" from midnight. Not sure if the Scuzz thing is regular or just for this week- the trailer doesn't make it clear.
You may remember a while ago talk of an old Amiga magazine running a feature on the ITV Chart Show. I had a good old look around the house and unfortunately I no longer have the magazine. I must have put it in the recycle bin within the last year.
However, I did manage to find the issue on the net from this particular link...
It's interesting, someone told me recently that the first episode after the 1991 relaunch used a new style of in-song graphics (possibly connected to this competition?) only to revert to the old style the following week. It would be interesting for The Vault to show this particular episode (7/12/1991 I believe it was). And, let's face it, it was looking quite dated by 1991, I'm suprised they kept it for so long.
I have always wanted to know what the last icon is on the menu bar and now I know thanks to you russnet. They never used the last icon. It's called trashcan.

I have just looked, I have that edition on VHS from 1991, and indeed it is very different. I can't do any screengrabs but the font is very much like "Haettenschweiler".

If you PM me and send me a copy (or you can send me the original tape, and I'll post it back when I've copied it- whichever's easiest for you) I'll post some screengrabs.
I know I shouldn't respond to simsam's banal postings, but I think you'll find that the "trashcan" icon was used during EVERY song.
I'm trying to picture if there a trashcan icon on the old Amiga Workbench days. I remember the empty trash menu prompt but not an icon to dump the trash in. None of that eco friendly Recycle Bin jargon you get with Win PC's lol
This is not actually the topic of the thread, but does anyone know why The Vault is now showing "The Scuzz" between 00.00 and 06.00? Surely the audience is totally different. I'm afraid I don't want to watch "scuzz" clips on a channel supposedly dedicated to Oldies...
The icons all animate briefly when clicked- the record pops in & out the sleeve, the TV shows static, the speech bubble flashes up "Pssst" and the question mark turns upside down. The bus isn't clicked on in this episode- so the animation was never used.
I have to ask though, why they went to the effort of changing this, only to go back to the old style the following week- a waste of time, surely? The 1989 style looked quite dated even by then, yet they used it through till 1996.
That's definitely a rarity. Thanks for uploading and it certainly would have made sense to stick with those icons. I never saw that edition broadcast but on seeing the one the following week I can remember being rather confused and asking my dad what Pepe was.
January 18th 1997 today. Overdue an episode from 1997- we've only had two so far, and the last one was back in January! Still praying for 1986-90 and 93-95 (and 96 pre-relaunch, if they can ever edit all the Twix logos out the titles).

But if they were OK to show them then why not now? Just because Twix wouldn't be paying for it wouldn't make it against the rules
Are sure it wouldn't be against the rules? Do you know the details of how it all works? What makes you so sure there'd be no problems with them showing them? I'm just wondering what it is you know that I don't.

I'm not sure at all, what makes you so sure?
I just don't see the difference between having a paid sponsor and a free sponsor. And we already know the reason why they aren't showing the Twix era shows.
My guess would be, that although Twix sponsored the shows then, it was only for that showing, is it fair that they get free sponsorship a decade or so on? Plus there are rights issues, even from the original sponsors themselves, may not want to be associated with a music show that is quite old, demographics and all that. If you paid for something to be associated with your company over 10 years ago, and they just decided to use it again, you may not be at all impressed, and also they may not want to sponsor something they have done once already.

It shows the Chart Show on the front cover but they have yet to scan the article in so there is some hope out there after all!
Perhaps you may have a use for it.

Maybe someone on this thread can identify it.
