Ok both should be astoundingly simple but i can't seem to find a way to add Windows Media Center to either the desktop as an icon or to the context menus.
I've had no problem adding all manners of files and programmes to my desktop and context menus but can't find an option to or drag the media center to either. I've gone round in circles within the annoying MC menus, i so wish they'd have a static list than the annoying floating catch it if you can ones they still have from the XP days.
Many thanks in advance of a solution.

As for the context menu, Media Center appears by default in the 'Open With' menu when right clicking on supported media files.
(in my Windows 8 machine it's in C:\Windows\ehome)
You can then right click and make a shortcut in the usual way.
The send to option isn't available!
Also the context menu doesn't contain MC in the 'open with' menu!
Both were the very first steps i took and expected to be available.
Those two steps are available for everything else that i can see.
UPDATE: Just right-clicked a video file and as i said the 'open with' option did not have MC listed. I noticed the 'other' option in the 'choose as default' and subsequently 'browse'.
Amongst the applications listed in there i spotted MC, so i unchecked 'always choose to open' (i prefer VLC as my default video player), i then opened the video file with MC. After doing that, now when i right-click a video file MC appears in the 'open with' options. Hopefully it will remain as an option and not disappear if i should have to restart my computer after a windows update etc.
Just got to get it on to the desktop as an icon now. Incidentally, i have it pinned to the start menu and also whilst it is open and showing on the task bar i have tried right-clicking and dragging it to the desktop to no avail.
From the menu (not the taskbar), left click and hold then drag to the desk top
Find it under the All Programs heading in the Start menu.

Thank you for going to the effort of posting a picture, appreciated, however as mentioned in my previous posts the 'send to' option is not available when i do the actions you show.
SOLUTION Duhhhhhh! That's something i've done dozens upon dozens of times in the past and i've clearly just had a total mental blank with not adding anything to my desktop for a long while lol......OUCH yep of course it is indeed the LEFT click and hold and drag that take sit to the desktop. Thank you very much, and everyone else who tried to assist.
