Help me pick a console please
I am sorry if this thread has been created 1million times and i dont want to cause arguments....but i just dont know what to get:(
Basically i want to get one of the new gen consoles for my birthday on the 5th december (obviously the xbox 1 or the ps4).
I havent owned a console for a while due to not really wanting one or being so busy with school and work. I have changed my mind though and want to join the gaming world:D
The games I play/will play will be Fifa 14, NBA Live 14/NBA 2K14 and Call of Duty.
I also want to use my console for watching movies and basically other multimedia purposes since i will be playing it in my living room.
Should i get the xbox one or ps4?

Multimedia wise if you are referring to the likes of Netflix then again you'll be fine with both consoles.
I'd say go with the cheapest deal.
ps4????
Get a PS4. It is cheaper, more powerful and looks better.
I am not biased as I am most likely getting the Xbox One. Why? I prefer the controller and exclusives and it's what I'm used to.
Since you're new to this, didn't name any exclusives, then I would say PS4 is the best choice for you
Agreed PS4 does look to be the better option but before the OP makes there mind up I still think they still look at the exclusive games to see if any of them may swing the decision in one way or another.
nope not really
dont really care about exclusives
just want to play sports games tbh and COD
For multimedia you can also plug your Sky box/Freesat/Freeview box into the back of Xbox One and multitask, you can swap between them very quickly and even pin TV to your game simultaneously if you wish and receive dashboard/friend notifications over your TV programs so you are always connected, I would say the Xbox One would suit your needs better tbh.
PS4 will be cheaper on release and likely for some time. Xbox One offers more on the multimedia side of things(see above) so it's a matter of whether you think those features are worth an extra £70(or £30 if the FIFA deal is available)
Hmmm my issue is that the xbox one controller may be too big lol.
i have small hands.
no chance of me getting my hands on one of those
I think simplygames still have stock.
Not sure how you can say it brings the cost down when it still costs more than PS4 + FIFA!
For watching movies then we'll probably have to wait until they launch to find out all the video types they play.
Don't forget on PS4 the on demand apps like Netflix have no restrictions but you will need to pay for an Xbox LIVE subscription on Xbox One to access the content you've already paid for.
is simply games legit?
sorry if this sounds stupid but never heard of them and after the recent fraud i suffered on my bank account i am careful where i purchase things online:(
The PS4 is under a blanket EU-wide restriction of pre-orders with launch day guarantee, and has been since 6th August and they're not displaying that message.
So I'd be doubtful they have either console available.
There should be adequate stock in shops on day one.
If it was me I would pre-order from Amazon or somewhere else that requires no deposit and can be cancelled online easily, keep that pre-order, see if nearer launch more consoles are released to retailers and if not then cancel it and go hunting on launch day.
still not sure also which one to go for. i am watching some youtube videos showing a closer look at the consoles and controllers. the xbox controller actually looks smaller than i thought it would be. the ps4 is cheaper though so that may sway me. both consoles play the games i want and both play blu ray dvd's/
the kinnect is a bonus i suppose so may have to think if i will actually use it!
no i havent had a console since ps2!
They are legit, I've used them a few times before and I have a PS4 pre-order with them. I got an email about the PS4 bundles today and this was tagged on the bottom of it....
If you're not bothered about day one it doesn't matter but a free copy of FIFA might make a huge difference to you?
oh so they do have it in stock...the xbox one with fifa 14?
hmmm might preorder it from their actually.....
if my xbox were to break with them do i deal with Microsoft directly.
It looks like it but I don't know for how long.
If I bought an xbox and it broke within a year I'd ask the retailer for a new one or I'd certainly be dealing with Microsoft direct. But I'd like to think that's extremely unlikely at best.
did you get insurance on yours?
incase your console breaks after the year warranty.
Nothing like the original Xbox controller though!
The PS4 controller is a bit bigger than the PS3 controller, mainly it's wider as it has the touchpad - the distance between all the buttons you mash is smaller, so may suit your hands a little bit better.
I have 'goalkeeper hands', I guess that's what you get for playing in goal, and even I find the Xbox controller to be too big for long sessions (ah Sony yunohavePCdriver).
Just saw a post on NeoGAF, looks like Tesco have taken the no-more-pre-orders message off their PS4 page, so maybe more allocation is coming through?
yeah ive decided
im gonna get the ps4.:D it makes sense, its cheaper, the more powerful console and i think the controller suits me better. I have small hands so its no way ideal for me:o
Not i have decided what to get.....i think i just have to look for a place to buy it. Coming to think about it i dont have to get on release day.... i can wait till after xmas i suppose. Think i will buy it from amazon since they are reliable and have ''fantastic customer service'' according to most people
No it's not, the only exclusive content on the Xbox One version of Fifa is the inclusion of '50ish' Legends in Ultimate Team, not Ultimate Team itself.
Which is exclusive content... and dedicated servers for COD will make the difference.
Getting a free pack-in game brings the costs down, that's just logic. I never said it was cheaper than the PS4 but the fact is you also get a high tech camera included with the X1.
Lastly to the OP, I wouldn't worry about the size of the X1 controller as it's actually smaller than the Dual Shock 4 which has really grown for this generation. PIC
Huh?
I guess when they launch i will have a play around with them and see which one i prefer....
i cant even preorder now as they are all out of stock
