I'm not sure how many of you know about this but you can get live streaming of Channel4 from their website

http://geo.channel4.com/player/simulcast/index.jsp

its different to 4OD, this is live. It doesnt show american imports but you have your important things, Hollyoaks, Channel4 News, Dispatches etc.

I'm just letting y'all know because at uni its a lifesaver (and a money saver) for me cos i dont need a tv (and pesky tv licence) so im worried if too little people watch it, they might stop streaming it!!

Its all free and theres no catch only u need to sign up :)

if you already know as you prob do, just ignore this ;)

Thanks all x

I'm sure someone will shoot be down if I'm wrong...but I think you need a licence if you are watching a live simulcast of the channel being broadcast.

This is taken from the TVL website:
You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, set-top boxes, video or DVD recorders, computers or mobile phones to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV.

As davidweller has mentioned, you do need a TV licence to watch the Channel 4 simulcast.

Sadly, a TV license is required to watch TV material via any method of communication, as already stated. This ruling has added reception via the internet and mobile phones to the usually TV method.

It may be more difficult to enforce viewing via the internet (from official sources), but a license is required.

A log time ago, when we had just 4 channels and radio stations to choose from, students staying away from the 'family' home were exempt as long as they could show a valid license from the home property.

I believe that has changed, meaning a TV license is required by anyone/property with a TV, (or other form of viewing/receiving TV broadcasts), even if reception is poor, non existent or unintended).

If a channel is simulcast online (be it any channel) a tv license is required.
