I can't watch it without thinking about Dench's quote along the lines of "If Billy Connolly had his way it would be Bob Hoskins in this role instead of me".
I'd love to see Dame Judy playing a different Mrs Brown...!
That's nice...!
Eh?
Does anyone know of any other Victoria movies that are good? Especially the latter years of her life as they interest me, her loneliness makes me feel sad
i thought it was a lovely film, very well acted, Judi Dench was simply fabulous as Queen Victoria & surprisingly Billy Connolly was very good as Mr Brown
From what i read, critics and movie lovers still say to this day that this should of been the film that she should of won the oscar for, not her 8 minute average performance in Shakespeare in love
Even Helen Hunt inferred in her Oscar speech Judi Dench should have won. Her Oscar for Shakespeare in love was compensation for missing out before. Though as always that meant someone else missed out who was equally deserving.

Unless you've seen the show, you probably wouldn't have got that joke!
It's a rather good film and I was particularly struck by Billy Connolly's performance. I think he should do more straight acting myself.

Billy Connolly surprised me, lovely performance.
Anjelica Huston got there first...kind of.
