Nissan Micra Remote Central Locking Problems
I have a 1998 Nissan Micra with remote central locking but have had problems with it for some time now.
When I first looked at the car in a garage in 2004, the remote central locking wouldn't work. The salesman said they would fix the problem and sure enough a few days later when I went to collect the car, the remote central locking worked fine. It then continued to work fine for some time until one day I went to unlock my car with the fob and nothing happened. I had to use the key instead and ever since then the remote central locking has never worked (it still central-locks but only through using the key).
I've replaced the batteries in the fob and searched the internet but haven't found anything that fixes the problem.
I thought about going back to the garage where I bought the car but it's that long ago now, they probably won't remember and could well charge a high fee to fix it anyway.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks

Have you phoned Nissan and asked for advice.
Also in the yellow pages there is a company in Bolton called total Nissan they are very good.
If i find the number i will put it on another post for you.
You maybe along way from them but they may well be able to tell you the problem over the phone
08712303716 is the number
I have noticed your in stockport so it's not that far from you
I have a Nissan Micra too, but I just use the key because I can't be bothered to replace the batteries. Sorry thats not much help.
After I'd wrote my post I had another search on Google, and tried several different key words that I hadn't tried before and stumbled across this site: http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,1535.0.html
It gives a step-by-step guide of resetting the fobs:
I followed the instructions and it's all working fine now!!
I actually remember trying something like this once before and it didn't work, but as it worked tonight, maybe I didn't have the correct instructions.
By the way, those instructions work on other Nissans too.
Thanks again for all the replies.
Maybe save the details in a document or print them out for future?
Yeah, I've kept the instructions so if it ever does it again, I can easily fix it!.
I have replaced the batteries in both fobs yet neither of them will work with my Micra.
I've tried the reprogramming procedure many times and it doesn't work for either fob.
The Micra enters programming mode fine but when I hold the unlock button on the fob and press the lock button three times nothing happens.
Just to note, the fobs are made by 'Siemens' and look like this: http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb258/Izak86/NissanFob.jpg
Your type of fob is the most reliable one for the Nissan, but unfortunately they do fail completely.
Try cleaning it out and see what happens, but I think your fob has had it.
My Terrano I used to own kept going out of sync until they failed altogether.
One thing you could try is to disconnect the car's battery for 30 minutes and try to reprogramme the fobs afterwards.....make sure you know your radio code before you disconnect your battery.
