Is it worth delivering 1000 leaflets for £30?

The houses are medium and large with some flats as well.

How many hours would it take?

Is that fair pay for that amount of work?

if you deliver 2 leaflets a minute it'll take you 8 hours to deliver them.

Do you value your time at more than £3.75 an hour?

It boils down to how much you want the £30, really.

No one can tell you how long it would take unless they know how far apart all the houses and flats are, how long the footpaths are, whether there are lifts in the flats and how fast you walk.

did this a few years ago for a supermarket, delivered leaflets the first couple of weeks but then realised i was doing more than what i should be getting paid so ended up just dumping the leaflets and then took the money;)

My brother used to deliver leaflets when he was unemployed many years ago. He actually used to do the work and was very conscientious about it but the person he knew who got the best deal was the chap who just took 5000 leaflets and put them straight in the bin!

    Job done!

1000 for £30 :( You'll be surprised how long it takes to go up and down garden paths.

I'd not do it for under £60 + Expenses

It takes longer than you think. If there are steps up to the front door or down to basement flats it makes it even more tiring. I find even leafleting my road is tiring. I guess that is why leaflers out through each letter box.

Money wise I don't think it is worth if you're looking for permanent employment it will probably look better on a CV to say you've done something rather than nothing.

"Fair"; I know one company that pays £40 per thousand drops, and another that pays more than that.

£30 is less than minimum wage. Whoever said "You'll be surprised how long it takes" is spot on. An answer to "is it worth it?" is "depends how much money you need".

It depends how much you want the 30 quid.

If you have the time to spare and don't mind a walk around your neighbourhood then why not do it.

It's better than sitting on the sofa earning nothing.

There's a small offset as well. While you're out walking your PC isn't eating leccy. :D

No, that sounds ridiculously low for 1,000 leaflets!

Why not? £100+ is alot for this kind of job.

OP: can you spread the work over a few days? If you run that much it sounds like you'd be fit enough to keep up a good walking pace and that'll make things easier. I'd do it; yes time consuming and not much fun but it's better than doing nothing.

Wouldn't be too bad if they were all terraced houses you could probally get it done in couple of hours.

Or you could just chuck 'em behind a hedge:D

1000 leaflets on entirley terraced 'door on street' houses would take 4+ hours depending on speed, hills, akwardness of street design etc
On normal surburban areas you could double that easily.
With a mixed areas expect 5-6 hours to deliver 1000 leaflets.
As your area has flats you need to increase this time to take account for stairs, dont dismiss these they can knacker you out and seriously do take up time. So prehaps 7-8 hours depending on exact area.

So at £30 per 1000 you would earn around £4 per hour.

Worth it? Only you can decide.

As suggested earlier you have to take in to consideration any travel or petrol costs. Also if its not in one specific area the time taken could be much longer just getting around.
