After a replacement for my blackberry pearl. Previous phone was Nokia 6110. Both top quality, but small.
I want good camera, voice quality, not bothered about Facebook etc.
Thanks.

    Budget up to £250.
    On O2 rolling contract.
I'd like a phone similar size to the pearl, if possible.

I'd like the Audi A1 of the mobile phone world.

Do you need a physical keyboard or do you not mind a touchscreen phone?

If you don't mind touchscreen then have a look at the Galaxy S3 Mini which is £179.

    Touchscreen is fine. Thanks.

S3 Mini would be the best option i think. It is ever so slightly bigger than the pearl but it has rounded corners and it's quite slim which does bring the size down. Also it's a good phone for the price.

have a look at it in a store before buying and make sure you're happy with the system and the size :)

    It's £179 on O2's website for a limited time.

erm. Well compared to the S3 mini it's nowhere near as good.
But then that is reflected in the price of £90. It is quite literally half the price.

It's up to you really but if your budget is £250 then the S3 Mini is the best buy at £180 and it's a small phone with mid/high end specs.

It's not actually that Mini, in spite of it's name.
Also it's way outside the OP's budget (though you couldn't've known that).

If you're looking at the S3 Mini, there's also an Ace3 that's supposed to be launching some time soon.
No idea what the price is supposed to be but it's very similar to an S3 Mini but comes with LTE, a bigger battery and a more powerful CPU.

Guys, he said 'small'. HTC One Mini and Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini might be 'minis' but are not considered as 'small'.

I'd recommend Nokia Lumia 620 if you want a modern, cheap yet feature-wise smartphone. Its screen is 3.8". Also take a look at iPhone 4S and older, which are 3.5".

If you don't need a smartphone yet want a modern phone with enough features to satisfy you whilst keeping the price low, you should definitely take a look at the Nokia Asha range. Also look at them if you consider the iPhone and Lumia 620 as still too large.

If in case you're okay about buying a non-modern phone and don't want a full touchscreen, take a look at the Sony Ericsson C905 from 2008, or Nokia C3 from 2010 with both touch and type. There are plenty of other ones you can find such as Nokia 6303 Classic. Good thing about them is the great value of money. You can buy them from eBay.

No, no it really isn't. I had one and it was terrible - unresponsive screen and so laggy as to be almost unusable. I think the problem is Ice cream Sandwich. The handset just can't run it effectively.

Not true, I had ics running like butter on my Galaxy S and that was ancient! I'm still shocked people recommended the S3 mini. It's a very poor value phone for the money. I second the Nokia 620. What exactly counts as compact these days?

Trsvis_Bickle was replying about the Huawei G300 not running it well so not sure what the Galaxy S has to do with it?

The OP is asking for a small phone - the Blackberry Pearl is tiny. By comparison the Huawei P1 is huge. It's the same size as my Nexus 4, which is bigger than any of the iPhones, which are bigger than the Pearl.

If the OP wants to keep small, then smartphones are out because the smaller ones are generally quite low end specs now.

If he wants "the Audi" of phones, and apps aren't important, Vertu is the way for him to go!

    http://www.vertu.com :D

Well outside of his budget, but he might find something cheap on eBay.
