This is a new version starring Helena Bonham Carter. I couldn't find a thread for this.
I'm looking forward to seeing Helena as Miss Havisham.

No,
Too soon? 15 years ago? Not that soon.
Possibly, Gillian Anderson was amazing as Miss Havisham!
She was, but I felt they should've chosen an actor to play Pip that didn't look too 'posh'.
I agree with this.
Dickens works so well on TV, film versions have a lot to compete with.
The BBC also did a version in the 1999 with Charlotte Rampling, Justine Waddell and Ioan Gruffudd. Did anyone see that?

She's on 'The Graham Norton Show' tonight btw.
The only thing I like about 'Great Expectations' (as a novel and film adaptations) is Miss Havisham. In the 2011 BBC series Gillian Anderson gave a brilliant performance as her and I can remember only really caring for her parts of the story, which was the same today when I saw the 2012 version.
It went on longer than expected but I wouldn't say the film was 'boring' as such, maybe lacking is more the word but overall a good interpretation of the Dickens novel and I (personally) couldn't fault anyone's acting in the movie. I particularly liked the brief flashback's to Miss Havisham's wedding day.
Helena BC was a good Miss H but I found it hard to forget it was Helena playing her. It was just Helena dressed as Miss H (but the acting was faultless).
Overall a good movie, not sure i'll rewatch it anytime soon but still worth a watch. 6/10.
