My ticket for the 5 August athletics (incl. 100m final) came this week. It's in block 217, row 36 (category A).
Given the picture posted by Department_S (from block 220, row 34) I've got to be well happy with my allocated seat.
Reaction from friends varies from the non-sporting ones who think I've lost all leave of my senses to pay £420 for this, through to those who appreciate the significance of this once in a lifetime event and, like me, cannot believe how lucky I am to have got a ticket for this particular session.
if i have a brolly up then surely the people behind would complain
I am in row 14 seat 600 of block 152
will that be undercover
What you usually see when it rains at events like this is that those rather attractive plastic ponchos are on the seats for you to use, to avoid the use of brollies.

The list of restricted items etc. mentions that although umbrellas aren't banned in the Park itself there possible restictions of the use of umbrellas inside venues.

Ok. Here is a picture from my seat. I was Block 220 Row 34. You will be higher but slightly to the left. Not bad at all.
I got Paralympic Athletic tickets in block 244 so the opposite side from you! looks like a great view for something that sounds so far away though! (34 rows back in the second tier sounds a lot to me!)
EDIT: does anyone know how many rows are in each block so I can judge where I am in the picture
I just got my tix today (in the U.S., via the local reseller CoSport). For the Olympic Stadium I have Category B tix for Athletics on August 9 as well as for the closing ceremony. My athletics tix are in block 147 (lower bowl) and my closing ceremony tix are in block 225 (upper bowl).
I guess I am surprised that the same category tix for two different events in the same venue can be so far apart, and importantly on different levels. Also a little annoyed by the closing ceremony tix. For £655 I was expecting lower bowl - wonder where the £120 and £20 seats are if I am so high and in the corner. Oh well...
But the picture someone posted earlier on this thread from similar seats suggests that they are not all that bad.
Out of interest, what row are your closing ceremony tickets? I think I would personally like to be near the front of the upper bowl than towards the back of the lower, so hopefully that's the case with you? Hope you have an amazing time anyway

For £655 I would expect both Seb Coe and Boris Johnson to show me personally to my seat!

Are they £655 per ticket? If so, being on the upper tier may be better for the closing ceremony. For example, when we saw Wicked, the more expensive tickets were higher up because some of the show is better viewed from higher up.
Yep, £655 PER ticket for closing ceremony. These are in block 225, row 47 (how many rows are there?)
I hadn't thought about rosalynn's point that for a performance (unlike a pure sporting event) being up high might give a better viewing angle. Perhaps...

I'm in row 71 (Block 216) for morning session on the 3rd August. That was Cat E (£20) ticket so there cant be many more rows than that.
I wonder what the cut off rows are for each price band. The person behind you in Row 48 might have only paid £150 for their ticket.
Prices have been overpriced for the opening and closing ceremonies. There are Cat C available opening ceremony block 233 row 65 !! only £995 each. Looks like both ceremonies might not actually sell out, or will some people stump that money up right at the last minute?

Selling a few tickets at the last minute can be very easy if they cut prices. You are only talking very few tickets, and you could even give them to volunteers to fill the gaps, like to the troops.
You would barely notice the odd gap anyway, at the average Premiership football game, attendances can vary by hundreds, no one ever notices
To be fair looking at lots of the tv coverage and media bits from all over the stadium, and indeed other venues there's not really a bad view. It's more a matter of what exact event you want to see especially with the stadium when you might have to try and look through all the stuff in the middle.
I've got tickets for the swimming in the Paralympics at the very top, but having seen a view frm right back there and I get to see the whole pool which was a nice surprise. I won't be up close to them but I'm not going to miss out.
My brother and I have opening ceremony tickets. Block 222 and 249 which look opposite sides of the stadium. Does anyone know which side the tree is? Super excited

From what I've seen at the rehearsals, block 249, depending on where your seat is, might have a restricted view. 222 looks good. Anyway for the opening ceremony the best seats are in the middle. I would guess that rows 15 to 60 are best.

Nice! 220 does look like a good block to be in.
so we are meant to get soaked if rain is heavy
Don't worry I'm sure official Olympic Ponchos will be available for a very reasonable price:rolleyes:
Yes. There's no way someone's gonna spoil my view with an umbrella!

Only heats apart from a Long Jump final which I'll be right next to
For the Paralympics, I'm twice in 207, and once in 216 (all Cat Bs).
I'm over the moon as all are great seats without being Cat As.

Very true, with all the media hype this week am sure they will be snapped up by people getting caught up in it all.
