Indeed! Two of my favourite instrumental pieces are from Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. :o

He's written some masterpieces over the years.

Indeed. I'm not a particular fan of the films, but the soundtracks are great. POA is especially good.

Star Wars, just for how excited I still get at the opening few bars that follow the 20th Century Fox jingle.

Special nomination for Superman. During the helicopter scene in Superman The Movie, when Williams theme kicks in, as Clark notices what's going on, I get goose-bumps even today.

I went for Jaws. So many wonderful tracks. A modern masterpiece in classical music imo.

If HP was in the list my choice would have been a bit more difficult.

I know it's effectively Star Wars, but the score for The Empire Strikes Back was him at his absolute zenith as far as I'm concerned. The Imperial March, Yoda's Theme, The Battle of Hoth, Cloud City etc are some of the finest movie motifs ever composed in my opinion.

Schindler's list is just a beautiful piece of music in every way.
    Painful in its subtlety.

Schindler's List , one of his oscar winning score which isn't even listed. Bizarre selection in that list tbh,

I mean are his scores for Hook and the Towering Inferno lauded? No I don't think so.

Agreed! I am/was a massive fan of The Towering Inferno, but the music was, whilst good, just incidental filler. Certainly not the complete orchestral score that Schindler's List and others were.

I mean can you imagine the ending to ET without the music? It came to the front and drove the whole thing. In Schindler's List it was also a vital part of the film.
