Hi everyone I was just wondering what everyone thought of this beautiful piece of music. I only recently came across it and glad i did. I'm not usually into the classical music but this piece if so uplifting it truly is wonderful in my opinion
what do you think?

Allegri - Miserere
It was for 150 years only played in the sistine chapel 'till Mozart heard it there and transcribed it from his memory

Chipmunk and Keri Hilson also had a song last year, which didn't quite sample it, but sounded very similar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKrq8QUOIXc
I can play Canon on the radio. I agree, it's a beautiful song!
And a depressingly large number of other contemporary tunes as well. In fact the best selling single from each of the last three years, i.e. Poker Face; Love The Way You Lie; and Someone Like You, all use the chord progression from Pachelbel's Canon.

rbautz: Allegri - Miserere is simply magical, especially the top notes (Tallis Scholar's track must be on youtube)
Another moving classical piece is Chopin's Nocturne in C Sharp Minor

" Thomas Tallis
bore no man any malice
save an organist called Ken
who played his music very badly now and then "
Funny, but that's the bass line always the same by ricercata, kanons, chaconne etc.
Here is the crown of the Barock the monumental Ciaccona
written in memory of Bach's first wife, Maria Barbara Bach.

Plus his own An Ending (Ascent) has potential as a modern complimentary piece!

But my favourite classical piece is Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as played on this amazing 300 year old organ:

I was waiting for someone to bring up Canon Rock. Truly a wonderful display of guitar playing abilities.
