Seeing the 'games of the generation' article that lists Skyrim as one them games, it has left wondering i can't be the only one doesn't see what all the fuss is about
For me Skyrim is just a boring open world game, i just can't get on with it yet people seem to praise it to the heavens, i just have no idea why
Its the same with Fallout 3/New Vegas, i just don't see what teh big deal is and VATs is just a silly game mechanic to me, so i freeze time select to shot them in the head three times in a row, 2 miss for no reason (i froze time remember all the shots should be perfect) the other hits for barely any damage, i shot them in the leg and they die the ****
Edit: another big franchise i just don't get is Gears of War, what the hell is so special and unique about them that it has turned in to something so huge
What about other people what are the games that will be praised as the best this generation and what gaming is all about, yet you just don't get it

Don't kill me. It was a good game, but nothing like the hype it received. Decent story, amazing ending with stuck-in-the-90s combat and mechanics. I certainly didn't play the same game the reviewers played, that's for sure.
Right, I shall run away now.
I actually agree ( i should of included Bioshock in my original post) I never got on with Bioshock 1 or 2, but seeing Infinite getting 10 out of 10 everywhere i took the plunge
Its a great game with a great story, but and its a big but there is nothing revolution in the gameplay whatsoever and its certainly not a 10 in terms of gameplay
It felt like a corridor shooter in most places, dressing up the enemies and making them look cool doesn't change the fact its a by the numbers shooter
I still don't like the feel of Fifa after trying it again after several years of absence. PES for all its flaws is more entertaining.
I can see why the series has fans, but Uncharted just leaves me cold.
Maybe I'm a old style arcade fan at heart.
Halo - any of the games, nothing special or even fun to me
Most call of duty games - 4 and world at war for nazi zombies were great but anything after just felt like the same thing over and over
Halo, ok not great, i only play it if i play with family members.
Minecraft, pointless and god awful.
Assassins creed, boring.
Skyrim, this is the RPG everyone loves I am an RPG nut but this game i cannot stand.
Forza, one of the most repetitive game series going. Has about 1000 cars that does the same thing and barely any racing tracks.
I'll come back with more later
I remember being kind of interested on playing the D-Day landings in Medal Of Honour on PS2, beyond that, I just don't get why playing exactly the same game again and again with nothing more than improving meaningless statistics as a motivation is seen as fun by so many millions of people.
This.
GTA - I never got the hype for it yet I loved Sleeping Dogs. I might give 5 a chance tho when it drops in price.
Halo - I got one of the games free when I first bought a 360. That was 4 hours of my life I'll never getting back.
Fifa - Then again I can't stand football
I play the games you're speaking of, yet i don't buy into the whole rank thing, or getting a diamond camos and shite like that. It makes me wonder what these people would be capable of if they put in so much time doing something productive.
Opinions on other GTA games:
GTA 3 - Very good.
Vice City - One of my favourite games of all time
San Andreas - Boring as hell.
I no longer play COD games but when i did i would never play it to get to a certain rank or camo. I would just play for fun and if i ended up with a certain camo on a gun then cool, if not, i still had fun.
You can go into the COD threads and see people post things like "im working towards the diamond camo on my AK47, i only need 20 more head shots". Oh shut up you little pathetic person. The diamond camo does not make you any better player than the person with the dog turd camo. I bet you're g/f is blown away that you are working towards a diamond camo and not a diamond ring...
I hated GTA IV, it just didn't feel like a GTA game (as daft as that sounds).
A bf that's into his diamond camos must be a dream for the type of girls that like to cheat.
That wasn't aimed at you btw, it was aimed at the pathetic COD stat collectors.
I know, bro.
Think of an online shooter as the digital version of having a kick around down the park, not everyone playing these games are obsessed with statistics. Sometimes it nice to just have fun with friends competing against another team, its certainly more challenging than playing against AI (Some of the time ).
Uncharted series is second on my list, yes it's good! but that's as far as it goes, they are solid 7/10 games, 8 at a push for UC2. Gears, Tomb Raider and Max Payne 3 all have far better gameplay where it counts whereas Uncharted has great script work and voice acting.
I agree about Final Fantasy that was terrible.
I would add Max Payne 3, Mario Galaxy 2, Fable 3 and the Halo 3, I found them to be pretty much more of the same like the Assassins Creed games.
As much as it pains me, i have to agree with FF, i mean just listen to the new chocobo theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEUOOgNzOv4 What the actual ****
As for uncharted i can see how people could find it overrated, but saying that gears offers more in terms of gameplay, i just can't accept
As for my original post, i decided to give Fallout 3 one more try and while there are a lot of things a don't like (borderline hate) i'm looking at you Vats, i'm actually some what enjoying myself
I think I'm just a typical Westerner who doesn't "get" Final Fantasy, the only one I liked (and i really did) was FFVIII, generally regarded as the black sheep of the series, so I guess that figures.
I don't think Gears offers more in terms of gameplay than Uncharted I just think the control is more refined and the shooting more satisfying, but it obviously lacks the other gameplay elements. Is Gears repetitive? hell yes but once you get into that rhythm (active reload helps it along) it's got some fantastic pacing. It just needs to click!
I will however defend Bioshock: Infinite .until death (or thereabouts). Brilliant story, brilliant ending, brilliant companion, brilliant world, and thought the gameplay was good enough. A thought provoking, intelligent game, needs to played with eyes wide open!
My vote for over-rated game? Dead Space.
Though to be fair, I was so bored and uninvolved I didn't get very far.
To me it just felt more of the same, nothing unique to it like the first one had and certainly not deserving the 97% metacritic score that it got.
I didn't hate it, in fact 8 out of 10 would be my score, it just didn't live up to the hype for me, a bit like the Zelda games on the Wii, which is odd as I loved all the Zelda games on the DS and will consider getting a 3DS for the new one.
