Does anyone else find Airplane II funnier than Airplane?
I have seen Airplane a few times over the years but i had only seen Airplane II once & that was back sometime in the early 90's.
So last night i watched both films back to back & i found myself laughing out loud more with the gags from Airplane II than i did with Airplane. Now don't get me wrong i still find Airplane funny & i know some of the gags used in Airplane II are either the exact same or very similar to those used in Airplane but overall i found it to be more funnier.
I didn't know until i watched Airplane II last night that it wasn't Abrahams & Zucker that wrote this.

(titled Flying High! in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, and the Philippines) lol
"Andy went to pieces?"
Love both films - never understood the dislike of the sequel.
Agreed, although the sequel did have its moments.
Because Shatner's nuttiness just gives it the edge.

The court room scene does have some funny moments like the ones mentioned above.Another favourite of mine from the courtroom scene is the following.
Prosecutor: Dr. Stone, would you give the court your impression of Mr. Striker?
Dr. Stone: I'm sorry, I don't do impressions... my training is in psychiatry.

FWIW, in Japan, it's known as 'Flying High 2: a Dodgy Journey to the Moon' or 'Flying High II: A Really Risky Journey to the Moon' (Furaingu Hai 2: Kiken ga Ippai Tsuki e no Tabi) https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/フライングハイ2/危険がいっぱい月への旅
Edited:
That page says the filmmakers wanted the original title of Airplane! to be Kentucky Fried Airplane, to associate it with The Kentucky Fried Movie, but it was shortened to Airplane! upon its release for legal reasons. Huh. I never knew that.
over Macho Grande?
that and the rhino in ace ventura two make me howl with laughter
Stewardess "Well, we're just a tad off course"
Passenger "How much of a tad ?"
Stewardess "In space terms, it's about a quarter of a million miles !"
Chaos and mass hysteria ensues !
But only after the passengers are told they're out of coffee. The fact they're half a million miles off course, flying through an asteroid belt, and flying without a navigation system doesn't seem to worry them
I do laugh at:
'He flew with me over Macho Grande'
'And he's still alive?'
I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande
