Dallas spin off, concentrating on Gary, the ostracised Ewing brother, and Valene, Lucy's parents, is being aired on CBS Drama, from the beginning, starting April 1.
I never missed this show, and will watch it when it comes to CBS. If it's anything like the Dallas repeats, however, it won't have (for me) stood the test of time.

:D:D You have to be kidding he is looking like he should be sharing JR's coffin and those false teeth.
I don't know if they've remastered tapes since but when it was rerun on Irish TV a few years ago, the early seasons looked really really dated and the quality of the tapes were clearly very poor. Stick with it though as it seemed to pick up as the seasons progressed.
IIRC it was shown on BBC ONE on Friday nights at 9.25pm in the early 80's with a couple of years of hiatus before it was reinstated on the new BBC Daytime service in October 1986. I recall rushing home from College to watch Val, Gary, Abby & co every Wednesday afternoon.
Good days ....
Yes, I noticed that too. Hope they show all of them.
I quite like self contained episodes as it introduces the characters with more depth.
Yes - it was rather like Desperate Housewives in many respects as the women were the strong characters. It was very straight/serious in the early years as you say - but then the stories started getting more silly (like Dallas).
Here for example is the plotline for several minor characters - the first of whom was played by a very famous actor now - silly is not the word for it!
"He was raised by his preacher father and came to Knots Landing as a rather innocent young preacher. He later became a televangelist and married Cathy Geary, but became mentally ill and extremely violent. After he tried to kill Cathy, he accidentally fell off a roof and died!.
"She accidentally killed herself after locking herself in the trunk of Gary's car so it would seem like he'd kidnapped her.
I can visualise the lipstick! Valene perhaps? Now you have to develop the killer eyeliner a la Abby!
After she died the actress came back playing someone else (as I recall).
where do you get CBS? I have both Sky and Ntl... apologies I dont watch much telly
Channel 149 CBS Drama.
Electric blue, naturally
Yes the first two series were all self-contained stories, with a beginning, middle and end (usually happy!) And it does introduce all the characters of the cul-de-sac quite well!
From series 3, it starts to go more soapy and have cliff-hangers. But it fares very well - and doesn't go too OTT (like Dallas) and the series ends on a high
Thanks for replying, Face of Jack.
I have had a sneaky look at the pilot and the second episode, and love it already. :)
They may do what they did with Falcon Crest, show a certain number of seasons, then they repeat them all again before starting the next block. I think with FC they showed seasons 1-5 over a 6 month period or so, then immediately went back to season 1 episode 1 and showed all those seasons again and it was the following year before the remaining seasons were shown
Love Karen though
:D .........
Karen is my favourite too. Loved the way she handled JR the other night. She and Sid seem a bit of a mismatch though.
