Dwell, the furniture retailer, has confirmed the appointment of Duff & Phelps as administrator, while Internacionale, ModelZone and Ark have filed a notice to appoint administrators.
About 2,000 staff are employed by the four companies.
Internacionale, which has almost 150 stores, has lined up Ernst & Young as administrator, while ModelZone is to appoint Deloitte.
Ark, whose parent company is called Rett Retail Limited, is a fashion retailer primarily based in the north of England.

Only one I'd heard of is Dwell. I recall their first shop in Islington on Pentonville Rd. Trendy stuff that looked good from a distance until you looked more closely and saw that it was over priced tat. Expanded ridiculously quickly too. There's one (or rather, was) in Westfield, E20. Never saw a soul in there.

Look like I visited Modelzone last week just in time then. I only went about twice a year so I don't feel like it's such a big loss, actually they never stocked half of what I need most of the time so I'd have to get them online anyway afterwards.

I've heard of them all apart from Dwell.

Ark sell very overpriced clothes, I think I saw a pair of tights for about £10 in there!
Internationale isn't bad, I've only bought 2 things from there, ever, though.

Sorry to learn of their demise... however, perhaps if the companies had more inspirational management, and had extended their reach via an innovative marketing strategy, they may each have stimulated additional commercial interest, and would not now be going into administration.

Wonder if the Managers and Owners will each blame for Banks for their own incompetence and idiocy,

I'll miss model zone if it goes under. That said I only buy 2 or 3 things a year from there tops. It's a 35 mile track to Plymouth, so its usually cheaper and less hassle to order what I ant online.

retail attrition is part of life, how many new shops opened in the same period?

Not heard of any of them. Did they advertise or provide an internet shopping option? Can't expect to survive in the 21st century if you act as if it's still the 20th.

I'm not surprised about ModelZone, it's full of stuff that you go "that's kind of cool, in a geeky way, but I'd never pay for it, especially at those prices".

Only heard of Dwell and Modelzone. As someone else said, Dwell stuff was generally terrible.

The only one I've heard of is Modelzone - but that's because I go past it on my way to work.

Internacionale sounds like a Brazilian football team.

ModelZone sounds like a fashion TV channel. Or possibly a porn one.

Dwell and Ark sound like they should be somewhere near the bottom of the bill at Glastonbury, watched by 30 students who think they're 'amazing'.

Internacionale is the only one I've heard of. Cheap tat, we used to have one, walked in, walked back out straight away, seen better stuff sold on the market

Just a sign of the times, many more groups will go before the year is out. The only expansion of late is the food banks.:(

At the price they were asking for Tiger tanks, I'd expect Hitler to throw in a vegetable plot in the Ukraine.
