According to the ratings thread, there is a rumour that BBC1 will have a schedule change this Sunday (4th August) at 7.00pm to announce who the 12th Doctor is. Nothing confirmed as yet, but watch this space!

Den of Geek now reporting that it will be on Saturday at 7.00pm
That would mean ditching the Indiana Jones film. So a change of movie at 5.35pm?
Looks like they just got their days mixed up as they mention Celebrity Mastermind which is on Sunday.
That would make more sense. It would seem a bit odd to ditch the third Indy film after showing the first two.
Den of Geek have now tweeted a correction - it's Sunday.
Whenever there's a rushed announcement it's usually because the media have got wind of something. And the BBC want to reveal something before the media does. I suspect a Sunday paper will have the news within it somewhere as a "our unconfirmed report from our sources" story.
Radio Times - midnight tonight an announcement of some kind
Maybe that's the controversial bit of the 50th if he features in it.

I think it's one of the names already out there now,
I can confirm that it is infact an actor.
World War Z - Peter Capaldi played ?
W.H.O. Doctor
What the frak has Zoe Ball got to do with Doctor Who??
So now that the embargo's been broken, who's betting we'll get loads of complaints at midnight about the BBC "just confirming what we already know" when it isn't their fault Metro messed up.
Taking 2 + 2 and making 5......maybe it is a live clip show with the new Doctor being presented to an audience full of Whosters..er..all dressed up and fancy stuff like that.
Wonder if we might finally get a trailer after it? Unlikely, but it seems silly to miss the opportunity. Here's where the article appeared, now showing a 'Page Not Found' error:

According to GB, tickets have already been given out under the pretense of them being for the first recording of brand new live entertainment show.
That would be somewhat like the Confidential special 'The Eleventh Doctor' (originally appearing in the listings as a retrospective called 'The Ten Doctors'). There should be a retrospective intro, in fact... this being the anniversary and all that.
I know that's where I got the information from, they said they applied for tickets to a new entertainment show looking at long running shows, which matches the Radio Times article where it says the pilot will be cover Doctor Who. The audience should be Doctor Who fans if that's the case.
Sorry I didn't read the link and misunderstood/read your post; I thought you were asking how they would have an audience if it's only just been announced.
