    Thoughts:
Javier Bardem was brilliant as the villain. I think Naomie Harris will be a fine Moneypenny :) You could cut the sexual tension with a knife in the shaving scene :p Q was good, if a bit wet behind the ears, but I enjoyed his quips with Bond "You were expecting an exploding pen? We dont do that anymore" :D
Also loved the gay moment - "What makes you think this is my first time?" :D:D

Appearently its already the 2nd highest UK Opening in history, with still the Sunday evening admissions to come. Already taken about £20m.

    Absolutely loved it
It was only slightly let down by some moron that decided that bringing a baby and 2 other very young children with them was a good idea.

That £20 million figure is including estimates for Sunday, so it'll wind up being around the £20 million mark for the weekend. It could end up being slightly higher than £20 million, but it wouldn't be by much. If it weren't for Harry Potter 7 Part 2 being in 3D then Skyfall would undoubtedly be the biggest opening weekend ever in the UK. Still a fantastic and well deserved figure, especially for a 2D movie.

Saw it today. Not bad, overall.

Can't understand the reviews I've seen saying it may be the best Bond film ever: Not even the best Daniel Craig one - Casino Royale was much better, in my opinion.

Good twist at the end - didn't see that one coming. One of the rare moments you see Bond shed tears.

The bit with the tube train falling through the hole certainly tested out the power of the Odeon Leicester Square sound system !!! My ears are still recovering :D

So why do you think that?

I liked the sly dig at the Brosnan films.

Now who's being prejudiced. I loved The Avengers, and I can safely say that i'm neither a small child nor an idiot...

Neither did I say you were. I referred to people who ONLY like films like The Avengers. I loved The Avengers too, it doesn't mean I don't like much more hard-boiled or action-free films. That was my point. :)

Because that is my opinion. I'm not going to get into a protracted argument with you, but just to say where was any intense, passionate female encounter, typical of any Bond film, including Casino Royale? Was there that much of an assortment of stunning world locations used in the film? I didn't count many. It seemed to focus too much just on the relentless persuit of the villian, for me.

    Can anyone answer me this:

Is Quantum (the organisation) featured or mentioned at all?

I HATE when things are left unresolved.

Jesus, it was only a question, why the aggression?

I was just curious why you thought CR was better - this is a discussion forum after all.

You said you thought CR was better but didn't say why and went on to mention two things you liked about Skyfall.

Remind me not to engage in conversation with you again.

I counted 2 "intense passionate female encounters", one with the girl after the credits (stark bollock naked!) and one with Severin on her boat. The scenes with Eve were full of sexual tension too.

I thought Scotland was a pretty stunning world location, as well as Istanbul. The Shanghai and Macau scenes may have been interiors, but the cinematography was stunning.

No they aren't mentioned. That's not to say they wont be again though, Spectre weren't mentioned in Goldfinger.

    .

    1) Agreed :)
Bond was never like this before with Moneypenny  (Though its used as a joke at the end of TWINE I think?)
    2) Agreed again - loved the Shanghai fight and the bit where Bond catches on to the lift going up. :D
Was there an extra scene? I missed it

Sorry, I meant the opening credits. I hope there wasn't a scene at the end, I had already left!

    I absolutely LOVED it!!!

    I won't do any spoilers.

Javier Bardem is the best Bond baddie in years, he is fantastic.

Absolutely loved the new Q, had seen him in The Hour, think he is fab.

It was funny, moving and had lovely little touches in it. Really need to see it again.

I didn't mean any aggression. I mentioned one thing that was good about Skyfall, the twist. The other, about the audio, was an observation.

CR had more of the essential Bond elements, for me - including the use of countless world locations, and a much more intense female liaison.

Those female encounters were not in the same league, for me.

You mentioned two 'real' locations. Wow-eee.

We (the mrs, kids and I) went to see it last night. Fantastic film. It was being shown on (i think) 5 different screens at Edinburgh Fountain Park's Cineworld and all were sold out. We went for the 15:00 screening but it was sold, as was the 15:45, and 17:00 screenings but we managed to get into the 17:30 screening. A quick check on the way out showed the other screenings for later that night were also sold out. The film must be raking in a fortune.

Was on holiday from work last week and went on Friday morning - absolutely loved it.

Javier Bardem was the best baddie in years - real depth of character not just a panto-villain.

    Loved Ralph Fiennes.

Daniel Craig was his usual fabulous self.

    Judi Dench was magnificent.

    I think that:
Wasnt Javier Bardem - sort of like, M's version of Bond's 'Alec' (Sean Bean) from Goldeneye? A former agent/friend who turned rogue? This film (Skyfall) had an awesome villain :D
